Abstract: Enteral nutrition is the preferred feeding method for those patients with normal functioning tracts as comatose patients, and patients breathing with the assistance of a mechanical ventilator, gastrointestinal tract plays an important role in maintaining body immunological defenses, reduces infection rate and promotes better survival rate in critical care units. Feeding the critically ill patient is a unique challenge in nutritional management and nutritional support should be started as soon as possible after admission and should be maintained as long as the patient does not eat adequately because prolonged starvation increases the risk of morbidity and mortality. Aim of the study The aim of this study is to assess the effect of the educational program on the nurse's knowledge and practice regarding caring of Nasogastric tube feeding in critical ill patient. Method .A Quasi-experimental design with Pre and Post Test was used for the current study. Conducted in ICU department at Prince Sultan Military Medical City, in Riyadh, inspired to be the premier hospital in providing the highest standards of healthcare services for its patients. Tool of Study .Three tools were used for data collection for the present study as follow: Tool 1: Socio-demographic characteristics of the study participants, Tool 2: Knowledge of nasogastric tube feeding questionnaire This questionnaire was developed by (Mahmoud et al., 2012) and it consists of 45 questions related to enteral feeding from different aspects. Tool 3: The observational checklist it was developed by (Mahmoud et al., 2012) and it consists of three main checklists; to assess the nurses' practices regarding enteral nutrition. . Result of the current study showed that nurses reported a good level of knowledge and practice before the educational program and their level was improved after the program.  There were fair level of knowledge and practice for some items of the scale of knowledge and practice, which were improved obviously after the program. Conclusion. The study concluded that nurses reported a good level of knowledge and practice before the educational program and their level was improved after the program.  There were fair level of knowledge and practice for some items of the scale of knowledge and practice, which were improved obviously after the program. There were also some levels of poor knowledge and practice before the program that were improved later after the intervention. The study provided an evidence of the effectiveness of the educational intervention in raising the level of knowledge and practice regarding this specific type of nursing care in a specific care unit.

Abstract: Physical activity affects energy expenditure and therefore directly affects glucose utilization. Physical activity enhances glucose uptake, physical exercise both before and during pregnancy, has been associated with a reduced risk of GDM. Purpose: The purpose of the current study was to investigate the effect of physical exercise on prevention of gestational diabetes and improve pregnancy outcomes among women at high risk for gestational diabetes mellitus. Setting: The study was conducted in Maternal and Child Health Centers at Shebin El-Kom city. Design: A quasi-experimental study design was utilized. Sample: A convenient sample included 100 pregnant women were selected after fulfilling the including criteria of the sample. They were divided into two equal groups, study group applied physical exercises during early pregnancy and control group were left for the routine antenatal care. Instruments: There were four Instruments of data collection compromised I:  A structured interviewing questionnaire,II: physical activity assessment sheet III: Laboratory Investigations sheet, Semi structured questionnaire for assessing maternal and neonatal outcomes. Results: There was a highly statistically significant difference after physical exercise intervention in early pregnancy on reducing gestational weight gain, gestational diabetes mellitus, and complications of current pregnancy, labor and postpartum. Conclusion:  physical exercise during early pregnancy was effective in reduce risk of gestational diabetes mellitus, complications and improve obstetric and neonatal outcomes. Recommendation: Prepare programs about the importance of maintaining healthy body weight through following regular physical exercise and being active all the time to all women before and during early pregnancy.

Sample: A convenient sample included 100 pregnant women were selected after fulfilling the including criteria of the sample. Abstract: Although nurses are trained to establish an effective communication, they often do not use these skills to interact with their patients in clinical environments. Aim of study: to investigate the effects of using a training strategy on staff nurses' communication skills. Subjects and methods: The study was carried out five departments of Nasser Institute Hospital using a quasi-experimental pre-post assessment design on 100 staff nurses, groups of 100 patients for observation of staff nurses’ practices, and of 50 patients for soliciting their related opinions at each study phase. The tools used were a self-administered questionnaire to assess nurses’ knowledge, an observation checklist to assess their practice with peers, physicians, head nurses, and patients, and an interview questionnaire for patient’s opinion. The study involved assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation phases at the end of training and three months follow-up. Results: Staff nurses’ median age was 28.0 years, 97% were females, with 9.0 median years of experience. Statistically significant pots-intervention improvements were shown in staff nurses’ knowledge and practice with all team members and patients. The study intervention was identified as a main statistically significant independent positive predictor of the knowledge and practice scores, and patients’ opinions. Conclusion and recommendations: The intervention program is effective in improving their knowledge and practice of staff nurses’ communication skills. The study recommends use of developed training module in various health care settings. Studies investigating the effect of improving staff nurses’ communication skills on the quality of care and nurses’ burnout and retention are suggested.

The main findings, There was a highly statistical significant difference between pre and posttest regarding nurses' knowledge about preeclampsia and eclampsia. Conclusion, it’s important to improve nurses' knowledge regarding preeclampsia and eclampsia. Recommendation, Continuous educational program to improve nurses’ knowledge  regarding care of preeclampsia and eclampsia.

Abstract: Alteration in brain and neuronal functions may result in altered level of consciousness (LOC), Glasgow coma scale (GCS’) accuracy is very important especially in critical sitting and in special areas. Therefore, systemic and careful application of the scale is fundamental for assessment and establishment measures of the patient care to guarantee reliability, which is critical to follow up the progress of such patient. In this regard, evaluation of nurses’ knowledge and skill is indispensable for improving GCS’s accuracy, and in consequence, enhancement of the nursing care quality and patient outcome.

Method: A descriptive correlational cross-sectional design was used in this study. The current study conducted at Prince Sultan Military Medical City, in Riyadh Tools of Study Tool 1: Socio-demographic characteristics of the study participants, Tool 2: Nurses Knowledge and Assessment of GCS questionnaire. This questionnaire developed by the researcher after a thorough reviewed of current related literature and studies Tool 3 is the practice of GCS observation sheet utilized by Prince Sultan Military Medical City, in Riyadh, which developed by Teasdale and Jennett in 1974.

Result: Pearson correlation was used in this study and results showed that there is a moderate statistically significant correlation between nurses’ knowledge and the practice of GCS assessment for patients (r = .33**, p = .03). This indicates that with good level of knowledge, the practice of nurses is more likely to be good. In another meaning, the higher the nurses’ level of the knowledge, the better their practice regarding GCS assessment is. regarding the overall level of knowledge the result showed that 71% of the total participant were having good level of knowledge and 29% were fair level of knowledge, and a total score for practice was calculated and result showed that 89.3% of the participant reported good practice 8% reported fair practice and 2% reported poor practice regarding GCS .

Conclusion: The current study aimed at examining nurses’ level of knowledge and practice regarding GCS assessment for unconscious patients. The study reported a good level of knowledge among 3 quarters of nurses and fair level of knowledge among one quarter, inadtion Level of practice in this study was good among majority of nurses and results showed significant association between knowledge and practice. For this reason, providing continuous in-service education, incorporating GCS assessment in nursing curriculum, and further research assessing self-efficacy and self-confidence were recommended by the current study.

Abstract: Vitamin D and calcium deficiencies are common worldwide, causing nutritional rickets and osteomalacia, which have a major impact on health, growth, and development of infants, children, and adolescents. Widespread prevalence in all age groups including toddlers, school children, and adolescent  in both rural and urban areas. the major reasons for the worldwide spread of vitamin D deficiency has been lack of awareness of mothers  about vitamin D, health benefits, and prevention of deficient states across populations. Educational programs about importance of  vitamin D for bone health help to  prevent long-term health consequences. Aim of the study:  The aim of the study was to explore effect of health belief model-based education on mothers’ knowledge, practice and attitude regarding vitamin D deficiency of their children. Design: A quasi-experimental research design was used to conduct the study. Setting: This study was carried out in Pediatric Outpatient clinic, Benha University Hospital. Sample: A purposive sample (100) of  mothers and their children. Tools of data collection: Tool (I): A structured interviewing questionnaire: It was consisted of four parts: Part (1): Personal characteristics of mothers'. Part (2): Personal characteristics and medical history of the children. Part (3): Mothers' knowledge related two main areas: vitamin D and its deficiency and nutritional rickets.  Tool (II): Mothers attitude assessment scale to assess mothers attitude about importance of vitamin D and vitamin D supplementation. Tool (III): Mothers' reported practice: It was designed by the researchers to assess mothers' reported practice regarding care of children with vitamin D deficiency. Tool (IV): Health belief model questionnaire: The questionnaire consisted of 25 items used a 5-point Likert Scale to measure perceptions of behavior of mothers related children with vitamin D deficiency. Results of this study revealed that, there was a highly statistically significant difference observed between the studied mothers¢ total knowledge, attitude and  mothers¢ reported practice regarding care of children with   vitamin D deficiency  at pre, post and after three months of health belief model education implementation P= (<0.001).This study concluded that: the implementation of the health belief model education for the mothers¢ of children with vitamin D deficiency had exhibited improved knowledge, attitude and  self-reported practice about caring of children with vitamin D deficiency after intervention compared to their pre intervention level. The study recommended that: Training program should be applied for nurses to improve their knowledge and practice about vitamin D deficiency  , which will be reflected in improving mothers' knowledge and practice.

Abstract: The World Health Organization declared COVID-19 as a worldwide pandemic. Knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) affect people’s adherence to COVID-19 mitigation measures.

Objectives: this study aims to assess the KAP of rural population towards COVID-19.

Methods: A cross - sectional descriptive study was done on 784 persons from three villages in Talkha district, Egypt.

Results: The mean knowledge score was 12.8 (2.6); out of 17, Internet/social media (92.3%), and mass media (78.4%) are the main sources of knowledge. Good knowledge, positive attitude and good practices were reported by 62.8%; 48.9% and 58.8% of participants; respectively. Good knowledge was significantly higher among more educated and employed, housewives and students. More than three quarters of the participants considered COVID-19 as a fatal disease, and half of them considered that antibiotics are the treatment of choice. The majority of participants follow some preventive measures as hand washing, stay at home and are careful not to shake hands with others (96.7%, 88.6% and 87%; respectively). On the other hand more than half of them did not wear a mask when leaving homes.

Conclusions: Participants had a sufficient knowledge about COVID-19 and adequate practices towards its protective measures, but they had a negative attitude towards it. There is a need for targeted health education directed to vulnerable groups such as younger ages, men and low educated to increase public understating of the disease.

Abstract: Stress incontinence is a more common health problem in older women and has a negative impact on menopausal women’s well-being and is also considered one of the most expensive health problems.

Aim: This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of nursing intervention on urinary incontinence of menopausal women.

Methods: A quasi-experimental one group study design was used. A convenience sampling technique was used. Two instruments were used to collect data about, sociodemographic, medical, obstetrical and gynecological history and characteristics of urinary incontinence. Urinary incontinence was assessed before, immediately after, and three months after implementing the program.

Results: The results revealed that there were highly statistically significant improvements among women after practicing the Pelvic Floor Muscle Exercise regarding to symptoms and frequency of stress urinary incontinence.

Conclusion: The pelvic floor muscle exercise was effective in the management of women with stress urinary incontinence. Therefore, it is recommended to design educational programs for increasing the awareness of women about stress urinary incontinence and how to deal with it.

Abstract: Menstruation is a natural phenomenon that occurs throughout the reproductive years of every woman. Most females experience a certain degree of pain and distress during this period. Aim: was evaluate the effect of the teaching program about menstrual pain for freshman nursing students on their achievement. Methods: A purposive sample of 220 freshman nursing students. Sitting the study done at the faculty of nursing, Beni-Suef University.  Quasi-experimental research design was utilized, data were collected using tools: Fifth tools were utilized (Interview questionnaire, menstruation assessment questionnaire, visual analogue scale, Pre- posttest for assessing student knowledge and practice related to menstrual pain, and Student achievement assessment questionnaire. Results: There was a significant difference found in the improvement of freshmen nursing student's achievement, and total quizzes score between before and after teaching program. Conclusion: This study concluded that the teaching program improves freshman nursing students' knowledge related to menstruation, non-pharmacological methods of menstrual pain management and reinforced their achievement. Recommendation:  Health programs should be conducted for students in each college to extend nursing counseling for female students regarding menstruation, dysmenorrhea & methods of natural pain relievers.

Abstract: Ventilator-associated pneumonia is a common problem in intensive care, and is a complex issue where prevention is both vital and multifaceted. Aim: This study aimed to assess nurses' awareness and self – efficacy regarding the bundle prevention protocol of ventilator associated pneumonia. Subjects and Method: A descriptive design was utilized in this study, that was conducted in the critical care unit (CCU) for adults at King Fahad Hospital. A convenience sample was composed of 80 nurses working at the previous mentioned settings, added to 60 critically ill patients with different diagnosis were recruited from the above mentioned settings. The study tools were: 1) Self-administered questionnaire sheet to assess nurses' knowledge about VAP and prevention bundle. 2) An observational checklist to assess the nurses’ practices for mechanically ventilated patients regarding ventilator associated pneumonia bundle. 3) General self-efficacy scale. Results: More than half of the studied nurses had less than 5 years experiences in CCU, added to their awareness (knowledge and practices) and self- efficacy were unsatisfactory and need for more improvement. Conclusion: Overall, the present study concluded that more than two fifths of studied nurses had satisfactory awareness (knowledge and practices) as regards the bundle prevention protocol of ventilator associated pneumonia. In addition, less than half of them had high self – efficacy level during their work in the critical care units. Recommendations: Further studies should be carried out on a large number of critical care nurses with evidence of results and generalization.

Abstract: Very few studies are available in the management of enlarged prostate with Complementary and alternative therapies. Case presentation: A 74-years old Egyptian man was present with huge prostate. The case was immediately managed with combined drug therapy and alternative therapy for 6 days in eight sessions. He has good improvement after obtained this successive session. Conclusion: In spite of the current debate regarding the application of alternative therapy on treating difficult medical conditions like huge prostate for this case. A significant improvement in general condition of this case with medical treatment after using new methods of alternative therapy as wet and dry cupping or Hijama called ''Eman Tharwat method'' repeated local eight successive sessions in 6 days' therapy using a combination with medical treatment.

Abstract: Ethical leadership behaviors are critical to leaders’ credibility and have meaningful influence on the attitudes and ethical conduct of nurses and ultimately on organizational performance. Ethical leadership behavior is necessary for creating an ethical climate and is the key to obliging staff nurses to decrease or prevent anti-social behavior and gaining better results. Aim of study: Investigate the relationship between nurses' perception of ethical leadership and anti-social behavior through ethical climate as a mediating factor at Alexandria Main University Hospital. Research question: Is there a relationship between nurses' perception of ethical leadership and anti- social behavior through ethical climate as a mediating factor at Alexandria Main University Hospital? Methodology: Descriptive - Correlational Research Design was conducted. Setting: Medical, Surgical Inpatient Care Units, Critical care units and its specialties at Alexandria Main University Hospital. Sampling: Non-probability, Consecutive sampling of the study subjects were included in this study 355 nurses. Tools: Three tools were used in this study, First tool; Ethical Leadership Work Questionnaire (ELW) included two parts; demographic data of nurses and Ethical Leadership Work Questionnaire (ELW) sheet. Second tool; Ethical Work Climate Questionnaire (EWC), Third tool; Anti-social Behavior at Work. Results: by using Structural equation Modeling ethical climate is considered partial meditated factor has indirect effect on anti-social behavior, as increase in ethical leadership by one standardized point score associated with increase in ethical climate by (0.243) standardized point score while increase in ethical climate by one standardized point score associated with decrease in anti-social behavior by (5.367) standardized point score. Conclusions: the present study revealed that ethical climate was a considered a partial mediating factor between relationship of predictor (ethical leadership) and outcome (anti-social behavior).Recommendations: Provide training programs for all administrative levels related to: Ethical leadership behavior for leaders to be considered as role models for nurses. Create equitable work environment for all nurses through maintaining an open, clear communication with all nurses.

Abstract: Kidney transplantation is generally accepted as the best treatment both for quality of life and cost effectiveness. Kidney transplantation is by far the most frequently carried out transplantation globally. The main aim of this study was to identify the level of health- related quality of life among kidney transplant patients in Saudi Arabia.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in kidney transplant outpatient clinic in the Prince Sultan Military Medical City, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on 214 Kidney Transplant Patients. Arabic version of short form (SF-36) questionnaire was adopted from world health organization (WHO) to collect data related to quality of life. The questioner comprised for main parts: patient’s socio-demographic characteristics; patient’s health history; and quality of life assessment tool which cover all aspects of Health Related Quality of Life (HRQOL.

Results: The study results revealed that the quality of life domain which got the highest mean score is the domain of “Physical health interferes with social activities” with a mean percentage (85.0%). Following by the second highest domain of  “mental health” with a mean percentage (82.33%). On the other hand, the quality of life domain which got the lowest mean score was the domain of “Perception of health” with a mean percentage 59.90%.

Conclusion: The quality of life for kidney transplant patient in Saudi Arabia was satisfactory. An updated nursing curricula and patient teaching strategies to promote a kidney transplants patient self care management is strongly recommended.

Abstract: Premature infants are at a greater risk for developing both cognitive and motor development delays which originate in the central nervous system. The implementation of neuroprotective developmental care successfully required that all NICU nurses must have the knowledge and skills to effectively implement this care to minimize the potentially adverse effects of the NICU environment on both the immediate and long-term outcomes of the preterm infants and their families. Aim, this study aimed to assess the effectiveness of nurses’ training program about neuroprotective developmental care for premature neonates on their knowledge and practices in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Research design, A quasi experimental design was used to accomplish this study. Setting: This study was conducted at the NICU at Mansoura University Children's Hospital, Egypt. Sample: It composed of all nurses (64 nurses) in NICU. Tools: a) A structured self-administered questionnaire sheet including socio-demographic characteristics of the nurses, nurses’ knowledge about the neuroprotective developmental care and barriers for performing it for premature infants, b) observational checklist to evaluate nurses' practices and c) perceived self-competency. Results: The majority (79.7%) of studied nurses were female with mean age was 28.3 ±7.5.  There were statistical significant differences (p <0.005) regarding level of nurses' knowledge, practice and perceived self-competency about neuroprotective developmental care immediately and one month after training program compared with pre training. Also, majority of them were strongly agree that lack of knowledge (78.1%) is a barrier for applying of neuroprotective developmental care. Conclusion: The study concluded that, there were significant improvement of participants’ knowledge, practices and perceived self-competency about neuroprotective developmental care immediately and one month after the training.

Abstract: Hysterectomy is the most common gynecological surgical procedure among women, many complications with serious consequences may occur. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of nursing instructional guideline on Women’s Quality of Life after Hysterectomy. Research design: A quasi-experimental design was used. Setting: This study was carried out at the outpatient clinics of Ain Shams University Maternity Hospital. Sampling: A purposive sample of 160 women with hysterectomy was conducted. Tools: First Tool: Structured Interviewing Questionnaire: Part I: Socio-demographic characteristics of the women, Part II: Part II: Designed to collect data of obstetric history of the women & Medical history of the related cause of hysterectomy, Part III: Assessment of the predisposing factors which were related to hysterectomy, Part IV:  Designed to collect data about women's health complaints after hysterectomy, Part V: Assessment of the studied women's knowledge related to hysterectomy(pre and post intervention), Second Tool: Quality of Life Assessment. Results:  the result of the study revealed that statistically  significant differences in all items (vasomotor, sexual, social & psychological complaints) between pre/post implementation of instructional guideline, studied women’ total knowledge indicated that 22.50% of them had satisfactory level pre-implementation compared to 74.30% of them post implementation and statistically significant difference (X2 =68.19 at p<0.05) between pre/post,  moreover improvement of  total quality of life after hysterectomy, where 10 % of studied women had good quality of life pre implementation compared to 41.80 % of them post implementation also showed statistically  significant differences, also study showed statistically significant difference between  the total knowledge and their health complaints of the studied women and statistical significant difference between the total knowledge score and their total quality of life. Conclusion: Based on the results of the current study, it can be concluded that, the research hypothesis is justified since the implementation of the instructional guideline led to significant improvements in women’ knowledge and their quality of life after hysterectomy. Recommendation:  Further studies should be conducted on application of Nursing Instructional Guideline women undergoing to hysterectomy operation.

Abstract: Triage in the emergency department and at the intensive care units is necessary to prioritize management according to the severity of a patient’s condition, triage nurse is a critical member of the triage team, and their knowledge and practice directly affect triage process.  Aim: This study aimed to assess critical care nurses' knowledge and practice regarding triage system. Design: A descriptive exploratory research design was utilized in this study. Sample: A convenient sample of (69) adult nurses from both genders working in the emergency department and the emergency intensive care units was involved in this study. Setting: Data were collected from emergency department and emergency intensive care department affiliated to Ain-Shams Specialized Hospital. Tools: three tools were used for data collection (I) Nurses knowledge assessment questionnaire, (II) Nurses’ performance observational check list, (III) Questionnaire to assess Factors affecting critical care nurses regarding triage system. Results: This study revealed that (68.1%) of the studied subjects had satisfactory level of  knowledge, while (65.2%) had satisfactory level of practice, and the high contributing factor was in the performance appraisal dimension with (92.8%) of them assured the need for hospital administration support for application of triage system  Conclusion: this study concluded that about two third of the study subjects had satisfactory level of knowledge about triage system and two third of them had satisfactory level of practice regarding triage system, and There was a positive correlation between total level of knowledge scores and total level of practice scores. Recommendation: Planning for continuous training program to emergency health team regarding triage and triage process.

Abstract: Food Safety refers to handling, preparing and storing food in a way to best reduce the risk of individuals becoming sick from foodborne illnesses.  High standards of hygiene minimizes food spoilage and help to ensure that when food is eaten, it is as wholesome and free from pathogenic bacteria as much as possible.  Food safety is a global concern that covers a variety of different areas of everyday life. Aim: to evaluate the effects of educational program on preventing food borne diseases at restaurants of Suez Canal University. Design: A quasi-experimental design was used in this study. Setting: Two restaurants at Suez Canal University.  Sample: All food handlers in the two restaurants of Suez Canal University constituted the study population.  Their total number were 86 workers. Tools: Two tools were used in the present study, the first tool was a questionnaire which included four parts: socio-demographic data, knowledge, attitude and practices related to food safety, the second tool was an observational checklist to assess safety kitchen environment and supplies.  Results: The mean age of the participants was 43.2±9.7. The results revealed that, statistically significant (p<0.001) differences between the studied group's mean scores of  knowledge, practices and attitude regarding food safety  before and after program implementation. The kitchens of the two restaurants were safe and had insufficient supplies by 41.03%. Conclusion: The food handlers had poor overall knowledge, good overall practices and positive overall attitude related to food safety and prevention of foodborne diseases The kitchens of the two restaurants were safe and insufficient supplies. Recommendation: It is recommended therefore to conduct regular training courses for all food handlers as part of their continuous education.

Abstract: Currently, societies have sufficient opportunity to access correct information regarding smoking and its adverse impacts. So , workers should have high consciousness towards the risks of smoking. Aim: the study aimed to Evaluate the effect of health educational intervention on smoking cessation among faculty of nursing smokers at Suez Canal University at Ismailia City. Design: A quasi – experimental design was used in this study. Setting: The study was conducted in Faculty of Nursing at Suez Canal University at Ismailia City.   in seven primary schools in Ismailia city. Sample: All available smokers work in Faculty of Nursing at Suez Canal University (comprehensive sample). Tools: Two tools were used. First tool: A structured- interview questionnaire was developed by the researcher and included the following :Socio demographic data, Socio-economic scale,knowledge about smoking,and smoking history. Second tool: Observational Checklist: It included: assessment of safety school environmen Employees' opinionaire sheet regarding health educational intervention on smoking cessation. The results: In referral to employee smoking history items; the present study showed that more than two thirds of studied subjects  had 6-10 years of smoking ,45% of them used to smoke 5-10 cigarettes per day,more than half  of them (60.0%) started to smoke at the age of <20 years.

Conclusion: The current study revealed that there was statistically significant (p<.05) improvement in all items of Knowledge of studied sample about smoking cessation from pre- to post implementation of a training program.

Abstract: Breast cancer is one of disease that most affects the corporal identities of its suffers, and it implies an adaptation to changes with their body image and feelings. It is one of the most common cancers in women that have more severe mental and emotional effects than other types of cancers.  purpose of this study was to assess effect of breast cancer on psychological status among breast cancer patients.. Design: descriptive co relational design was used to achieve the aim of the study.Setting: The study was conducted at new cancer institute at Menoufia University . Sample: systematicrandom sample consisted of 50 patients from the above mention setting who fulfilling the inclusion criteriaof the study.Instruments: Data were collectedusing three tools: Social Characteristics Structured interview questionnaire,Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale likert scale  .Results: The present studyrevealed that nearly three quarter of studied sample have moderate anxiety level (76%). more than three quarter of studied sample have moderate depression level (78%). the majority of  studied sample have mild self-esteem  level (86%). It was concluded that there is an effect of  breast cancer  on psychological status of patients..Recommendation: Monitoring the patient's mood, encourage the patients to participate in pleasant activities, developing route and structure in daily life.  Guidance and counseling unit should be part of the treatment   system so that patients can come there to discuss issues affecting them.

Abstract:Nurses perception of organizational justice is an important predictor of healthy work environment that facilitate achievement of occupational goals, professional resilience, and nurses' job satisfaction. This environment positively impacts quality of patients' outcomes.
Aim:The study aimed to explore the relationship between level of organizational justice and the level of job satisfaction among nurses.
Methods:A descriptive correlational research design through a self-administered questionnaire was used to examine the relationship between organizational justice and job satisfaction among hospital nurses. A convenience sample of 313 nurses from one of the governmental universities in the delta region of Egypt completed the questionnaires.
Results: Data revealed that nurses had low level of organizational justice and low level of job satisfaction. There was a significant positive correlation between total score of organizational justice and job satisfaction at (p=0.01), and highly statistically significant positive correlation between levels of organizational justice subcategories and total score job satisfaction among study sample at (p=0.000). A significant correlation was also found among organizational justice, job satisfaction, gender, hospital type, and experience. Education was positively correlated to job satisfaction only. 
Conclusion: There was positive correlation between organizational justice and job satisfaction. Therefore, frontline nursing managers need to develop a justice-based system practice transparency in all daily nursing activities to improve nurses' job satisfaction.

Abstract:Food safety is a global health goal and foodborne diseases are a major health problem in both developed and developing countries. Segments of the population at risk for foodborne diseases or food poisoning are children and the elderly. For the elderly people, foodborne diseases can be very dangerous, elderly people over the age of 60-year-old are hospitalized and die because of foodborne illnesses at significantly higher rates than the rest of the population. Aim: The present study aimed to identify the knowledge, practices and attitudes of community dwelling older adults in Marsa-Matrouh city, Egypttowards food safety. Design: A descriptive research design was used.Setting: The study was carried out at “El wafaa and El Ataa” club for older adults. This club is the only social club for older adults in Matrouh governorate.Subjects: All the community dwelling older adults who attended “El wafaa and El Ataa” club on the day of high rate of attendance during the period of three months were recruited conveniently, they include 124 elders.Tools: Two tools were used for data collection; Tool I: Socio-demographic, Health and Food Profile Structured Interview Schedule, and Tool II: The food safety knowledge, practices and attitudes questionnaire. Results: The findings of the present study concluded that, the total food safety attitude portrayed higher mean percent score, followed by total food handling practices , total personal and kitchen hygiene knowledge and total food safety knowledge with mean percent scores 86.5±9.7, 72.0±7.9, 69.8±17.6and 60.3±16.3respectively. It obviously noted that, personal/kitchen hygiene knowledge, food handling practice and food safety attitude score and total score was found to be positively correlated with food safety knowledge score. Furthermore, food handling practice and food safety attitude score and total score was found to be positively correlated with personal/kitchen hygiene knowledge score. Food safety attitude score and total scores was found to be positively correlated with food handling practices score. Finally, total score was found to be positively correlated with the food safety attitude score.Recommendations: The main recommendation of current study was to raising public awareness regarding food safety and its effect.

Abstract: Background: Neonates on mechanical ventilation are the most critical cases at neonatal intensive care units and need a high quality of nursing care to complete cure without complication from mechanical ventilation. Aim of the study: Assess the quality of nursing care provided to neonates undergoing mechanical ventilation. Research design: Descriptive design was utilized. Subject and setting: A purposive sample of nurses (60) working in neonatal Intensive Care Units in University Children’s Hospital in El-Mounira (Abu El-Rish) & El-Kasr Al-Ainy University Hospital. Tools: Tools of the study were (1) questionnaire sheet to assess nurses' knowledge about quality of nursing care provided to neonates undergoing mechanical ventilation, (2) medical record of neonates undergoing mechanical ventilation and (3) observational checklists to assess nurses’ practice provided to neonates undergoing mechanical ventilation at neonatal intensive care units. Results: The study results indicated that, about  half of the studied nurses had low knowledge, more than two thirds of them know factors that affect the quality of nursing care provided to neonates undergoing mechanical ventilation and two-thirds of them had incompetent total practice regarding care of neonates undergoing mechanical ventilation. There was a highly positive relation between the studied nurses’ total knowledge and their total practice with p < 0.001. Conclusion: In the light of the study findings, the studied nurses had low knowledge and incompetent quality of nursing care provided to neonates undergoing mechanical ventilation. Factors affecting quality of nursing care provided to neonates undergoing mechanical ventilation included nurses’ knowledge, practice and neonates' age, gender, weight and duration of connection with mechanical ventilation. Recommendations: The study recommended to improve the nurses’ knowledge and practice regarding the quality of nursing care and its application in care of neonates undergoing mechanical ventilation.

Abstract:The nursing process is cyclical and dynamic, interpersonal and collaborative, and universally applicable. Nurses use the nursing process as a nursing care plan through healthcare providers to achieve the best outcomes and improve patient quality management.
Objective:This study aimed to implement a nursing process program and assess factors affecting nurses’ knowledge and performance.
 Methods: The pre-experimental design was applied in the current study. The study was conducted at Yanbu General Hospital in the Nursing Continuing Education department. The studied nurses, a total of 173, participating in this study were selected by a simple random sampling technique. Five tools were used for data collection: a demographic questionnaire, Likert scale for measuring nurses’ attitudes toward the nursing process implementation, checklist to measure nurses' performance, questionnaire for nurse’s knowledge about the nursing process, and questionnaire to assess the factors affecting the implementation of the nursing process.
Results:  There were highly statistically significant differences between pre-/post-program of the nursing process regarding the total score of nurses’ knowledges. A total of 97.7% had a satisfactory level in the post-program, while 72.3% had an unsatisfactory level in the pre-program. Regarding total scores for nurses’ performance, 76.9% had good competence in the post-program, while 67.6% had poor competence in the pre-program (P <0.01).The majority of studied nurses exhibited positive attitudes post-program. Insufficient time, no nurse/patient ratio, and no feedback available were factors affecting the implementation of the nursing process.
Conclusion:There was a highly statistically significant difference between pre- and post-program in regard to nurses’ attitudes, knowledge, and performance.

Abstract:Health professionals, especially nurses, are essential health information providers to healthcare consumers. They have an impact on health literacy demands put on health consumers through successful interpersonal communication, written and visual health resources, and the development of health literacy environments to enhance health outcomes and secure treatment.
Aim: To investigate the relationship between Health Literacy Assessment and Communication Self-Efficacy Among Nurses at Aga Central Hospital
Subjects and Methods: A descriptive correlational design was used and the study was carried out on 310 staff nurses working at Aga Central Hospital by using two tools as: Effective Communication Techniques Scale and Communication Self-Efficacy Scale.
Results: The results indicated that there were highly statistically significant relationship between health literacy and communication self-efficacy. There was highly statistically significant relationship between health literacy scores of the studied nurses and their age, gender and working hours weekly. There was highly statistically significant relationship between communication self-efficacy scores of the studied nurses and their age and working hours weekly .
Recommendation: Develop a core set of measurable health literacy communication competencies that can be taught and evaluated not just to nurses, but to all health professionals. Insert many types of technology that could be useful in assisting patients to obtain, process, comprehend, as well as use health information and services

Abstract: "Epilepsy is a neurological condition - which means it affects the brain. It is also a physical condition because the body is affected when someone has a seizure and Cognitive behavioral therapy focuses on challenging and changing unhelpful cognitive behaviors and improving emotional regulation which can help children with epilepsy". Aim: The study aimed to evaluate the effect of nursing intervention based on cognitive behavioral therapy on social anxiety and self-concept of children with epilepsy.  Method: A quasi-experimental research design (case/control) was utilized to achieve the aim of the study. Setting: This study was conducted at the outpatient (Nero- psychiatric clinic) at EL Mogamma EL Teby AL Shamal, Shebin El-Kom City. Sample: Purposive sample of 100 epileptic children from the previously mentioned setting. Instruments: Three instruments were used for data collection: A structured interview questionnaire to assess demographic characteristics, The Piers-Harris Children's Self-concept Scale and Screen for Child Anxiety Related Disorders (SCARED). Results: The study revealed that there was a highly statistically significant difference between the study and control groups regarding of total mean score of social anxiety and self-concept after post and follow up intervention. Conclusion: the cognitive behavioral therapy evidenced to be effective on decreasing social anxiety and improving self-concept of children with epilepsy. Recommendations: Integrating cognitive behavioral therapy into the nursing care of children with epilepsy. Provide continuous training for psychiatric , pediatric and all nurses regarding the application of cognitive behavioral therapy for children with epilepsy.

Abstract: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is “a long-term disorder significantly worsening the somatic, emotional, and psychological functioning of its sufferers”. The study purpose was to explore the relation between pain and depressive symptoms among patients with rheumatoid arthritis. A descriptive co-relational research design was used to attain the aim of this study. The study was carried out at clinic of physical medicine and rheumatology, Menoufia University hospital, Egypt. A purposive sample of (n=100) patients with rheumatoid arthritis was selected from   the selected setting. Data were collected using the subsequent tools, (1) An Interviewing Questionnaire to assess socio-demographic characteristics of patients. (2) “Rheumatoid Arthritis Pain scale” (3) “Beck depression scale”. The results revealed that, “nearly two-thirds (64%) of studied subjects have severe pain, slightly above quarter (28%) have moderate pain and only 8% have mild pain”.  “Nearly two-thirds (63%) of studied subjects have moderate depression and more than one-third of study subject (37%) have mild depression”. “There was highly statistically positive correlation between pain and depressive symptoms among patients with rheumatoid arthritis”. Conclusion: there was positive correlation between pain and depressive symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis patients. Recommendation: Based on the outcomes of this study it was recommended that psych educational program should be given for all patients with rheumatoid arthritis as a routine basis to decrease pain and depressive symptoms among them   .

Abstract: “The presence of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder within a family predicts higher instances of negative parent-child relationships, family conflict, marital dysfunction, negative thought patterns surrounding a child’s behavior, higher instances of parental psychopathology, and increased levels of parenting stress”. The aim of this study was to investigate the relation between mindful parenting and stress among parents with children having attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. A descriptive co-relational research design was utilized to conduct the current study. The study was carried out at the psychiatric outpatient clinic of Menoufia University Hospital at Shebin El-kom District, Menoufia Governorate, Egypt. A purposive sample of  100 parents(mother or father ) of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder from the above mentioned setting. Three tools were used for data collection (1) A structured interviewing questionnaire to assess socio- demographic characteristics of the parents and child characteristics (2) Parenting Stress Index – Short Form. (3) Interpersonal mindfulness in parenting scale. The results revealed that, all the studied sample hade stress, (67%), of them had moderate stress level, (27%) had mild stress and (6%) had high stress level. Near to half of the studied sample, 48% had moderate level of mindfulness; there was highly statistically significant negative correlation between total stress level and mindfulness among parents with children having attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. It was concluded when mindfulness level among Parents with Children having Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder increase their stress level decrease. Recommendation: Psycho-educational program and mindful parenting training should be given to all Parents with Children having Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder to decrease their stress symptoms and enhance their psychological wellbeing.

Abstract: Poor adherence to physiotherapy treatment can have negative effects on health outcomes and healthcare cost. Little is known about barriers of adherence to physiotherapy treatment among geriatric patients. Identification of barriers may help gerontological/geriatric nurse to determine geriatric patients at risk of non-adherence and suggest methods to reduce the impact of those barriers thereby maximizing their level of adherence. Research questions: Q1: What is the adherence level to physiotherapy treatment among geriatric patients in Matrouh, Egypt? Q2: What are barriers of adherence to physiotherapy treatment among geriatric patients in Matrouh, Egypt? Q3: Is there a relation between barriers factors and adherence level to physiotherapy treatment among geriatric patients in Matrouh, Egypt? Methodology: This study was carried out at the out patients clinics of the physiotherapy center of Matrouh General Hospital. The subject composed of 215 geriatric patients who attended the previous mentioned setting for physiotherapy sessions for any medical or surgical conditions. Results: This study revealed that 71% of studied geriatric patients did not adhere to physiotherapy treatment. Mean scores of sever barriers identi?ed were: physiotherapy related exercises make geriatric patients anxious & depressed was 2.74±0.56, poor knowledge related to physiotherapy exercises was 2.54±0.87, and physiotherapy center away from geriatric patients was 2.51±0.71. while, mean scores of mild barriers identi?ed were: discouragement from family was 1.82±0.37 and not available time was 1.79±0.88. There was a high significant correlation between age, living arrangement, residence, educational level of studied geriatric patients with their adherence level at p value <0.01. There was a high negative predictor effect of the associated chronic diseases and using mobility aids on the level of adherence of studied geriatric patients to physiotherapy treatment at p value <0.01Conclusions: This study concluded that, more than two thirds of studied geriatric patients did not adhere to physiotherapy treatment. The sever barriers affecting adherence of studied geriatric patients to physiotherapy treatment were; the anxiety and depression associated with physiotherapy related exercises, poor knowledge related to physiotherapy and its exercises, the physiotherapy center away from geriatric patients’ place of residence and the patients’ perceptions to physiotherapy treatment as very boring. There was a high negative correlation between presence of barriers and the adherence level of studied geriatric patients to physiotherapy treatment at p value <0.01.

Abstract:Family caregivers of geriatric patients with cancer and receiving chemotherapy are facing many challenges in managing and caring for their patients. Objective: Determine factors associated with family caregivers burden of geriatric patients with cancer and receiving chemotherapy. Setting: Clinical Oncology and Nuclear Medicine department of the Main University Hospital, Alexandria, Egypt. Subjects: 80 geriatric patients aged 60 years and more and their family caregivers (80). Tools: Four tools were used for data collection: 1) Socio-demographic and clinical data for both geriatric patients and their family caregivers 2) Barthel index scale 3) Modified Caregiver Strain Index 4) Factors associated with family caregivers burden appraisal structured interview schedule. Results: The study family caregivers reported different levels of burden which are significantly correlated with geriatric patients current work status, their use of mobility aids and number of chemotherapy side effects. Also, family caregivers’ age, occupation, and type of chronic disease is significantly associated with their burden. Conclusion: High level of burden reported by majority of the study family caregivers of geriatric patients with cancer and receiving chemotherapy is associated with several factors such as family caregivers age, place of residence, occupation, number of children, geriatric patient current work status and their use of mobility aids. Recommendations: Comprehensive assessment of family caregivers as a routine and basic procedure to the gerontological nurses in chemotherapy outpatient clinic of hospital. Develop continuing educational programs for family caregivers about cancer and its treatment especially with chemotherapy and how to manage its side effects.

Abstract:Obesity is a major health concern due to its increasing prevalence particularly in children with intellectual disabilities, increasing morbidity and mortality Aim of the study: This study aimed to evaluate the effect ofquality of life based education program for mothers regarding their obese children with intellectual disabilities. Design: A quasi-experimental research design was utilized to conduct the current study. Settings: This study was conducted at outpatient clinics affiliated to Benha Specialized Pediatric Hospital and Benha University Hospital and obesity outpatient clinic at Ain Shams University hospital. Sample:  A purposive random sample of 60 mothers and their obese children with intellectual disabilities was included from the previously mentioned settings. Tools of data collection:five tools were used; the 1^st tool: A structured interviewing questionnaire sheet to collect personal data of mothers, family history and mothers' knowledge. The 2^nd tool: child medical assessment sheet to collect personal characteristics and anthropometric measurement of the studied children. The 3^rd tool: Mothers’ attitude toward their children’s diet and physical activity. The 4^th tool: Mothers’ Comprehensive Feeding Practices Questionnaire (CFPQ).The 5^th tool: The Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL) scale. Results: The study results revealed that, quality of life of obese children with intellectual disabilities improved after implementing an educational program for their mothers (p˂0.001). Conclusion: Based on the result of the present study it can be concluded that, the research hypothesis is accepted, an educational program for mothers improving quality of life of their children. Recommendations: The study recommendedthat emphasizing the importance of implementing an educational program for mothers for improving their quality of life, which is effective.

Abstract:Spinal anesthesia is one of the most common types in anesthesia, it is safe but still accompanied by several complications including hypotension and post dural puncture headache.  Post dural puncture headache (PDPH) can be severe enough to necessitate prolonged hospital stay or readmission. there is less evidence to support the effectiveness of hydration on headache caused byspinal anesthesia. So, it is necessary to investigate the effect of preoperative hydration on post spinal anesthesia headache Objective: to evaluate the effectiveness of preoperative hydration on post spinal anesthesia headache. Setting: The study was carried out at Alexandria Main University Hospital (MUH(and Hadara Orthopedic and Traumatology University Hospital Alexandria. Subjects: a convenience sample of 120 adult patients, divided into two equal groups: 60 patients in each of the study and the control group. Tools: Three tools were used for data collection:Socio demographic and clinical data,Post-spinal anesthesia headache assessment sheet and Visual analogue scale for measuring headache severity. Results: The current study showed that there is a statistical significant difference between both groups concerning occurrence of post spinal anesthesia headache, associated manifestations with headache, conservative treatment used to decrease headahe, type and frequency of headache relieve medication and the severity of headache; the difference is statistically better in the study group than the control one. Conclusion: It was concluded that preoperative hydration decrease occurrence and severity of post spinal anesthesia headache for one week postoperatively. Recommendations: Educational programs and continuing educational sessions have to be organized for surgical nurses about the effect of preoperative hydration on post spinal anesthesia headache, as nurses instruct patients on preoperative hydrations benefits and finally recommended that physicians, nurses and administrators must collaborate to ensure that evidence-based preoperative hydration are implemented and enforced in clinical setting.

At present, there are no non‐invasive tests accessible in clinical practice to precisely analyze endometriosis. This review evaluated the distinctive non‐invasive modalities for endometriosis.

Abstract:Estimate the prevalence of low resilience among nurses and its associated factors. Method: Design: This Nested case control study (cross sectional study to estimate prevalence of low resilience) followed by case-control study to find out factors with low resilience) Setting: Oncology Center of Mansoura University during the period from October 2019 to December 2019.Subjects: Target population is all the 355 staff nurses on duty at the time of data collection in the previously mentioned setting. The response rate was 79.4% Tools: four tools were used for data collection, self-administered Arabic questionnaire of the demographic characteristic, The Brief Resilience Scale (BRS), Stress in workplace Questionnaire, and Strain in workplace Questionnaire. Results: The study findings revealed that both normal and low resilient nurses are matched in their age, residence, job satisfaction and injuries. Low resilience nurses are more likely to be female, unmarried, and more educated. Low resilient nurses have significantly higher mean job stress score, low turnover score and low burnout score compared to normal nurses. Conclusion: resilience can be a helpful for coping with hard situation especially in oncology nurses and reduce stress, turnover intention and burn out.

Abstract:The occurrence of surgical site infections (SSIs) in orthopedic surgeries results in reduced quality of life, increased hospital length of stay, increased likelihood of mortality, higher change of readmissions and re-interventions.Aim of the study: to evaluate the effect of pediatric orthopedic bundle guidelines on nurses' performance regarding surgical site infections for children undergoing orthopedic surgeries. Design: A Quasi-experimental research design was (pre/post-test) utilized to conduct the current study. Settings: The study was conduct at orthopedic surgery departments at Benha University Hospital, Benha Health Insurance Hospital and Benha Teaching Hospital. Subjects: A convenient sample of all available nurses (124) working at the previously mentioned study settings regardless of their personal characteristics. Tools of data collection: Two tools were used; a structural interviewing questionnaire to collect personal data of the studied nurses and their knowledge regarding orthopedic surgeries, surgical site infections and bundle of nursing care to reduce surgical site infections. The second tool; Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Guideline for the Prevention of Surgical Site Infection. Results:  The study results showed that there was a highly statistical significant improvement in total nurses' performance after implementation of Pediatric Orthopedic Bundle guidelines. Moreover, there was a highly statistically significant relation in nurses’ practice and their educational level, occupation, years of experience, and attendance of training courses. Conclusion: Based on the present study findings, it was concluded that there was unsatisfactory knowledge as well as an incompetent practice among nurses regarding surgical site infections before the orthopedic bundle guideline compared with after implementation, and there was an improvements in nurses’ knowledge and performance regarding surgical site infections.  Recommendations: The study recommended that implementing the Pediatric Orthopedic Bundle guidelines for staff nurses are important to improve care provided to children in orthopedic departments to reduce surgical site infection.

Abstract:Blood transfusion is the most common therapeutic procedure performed for hospitalized patients. Although transfusion enhance patients 'life, it is not without risks .Good clinical practice contributes to safe and effective transfusion. Blood product safety is an important part of improving patient safety outcomes.Aim of the study: To evaluate Impact of implementing a designed blood transfusion nursing guideline on patient’s outcomes at medical department Research design: Quasi-experimental research design was utilized in the current study.Subjects: A Convenience sampling of (78) adult patients who were classified equally into two group; study and control (n =39).Setting: This study was carried out in medical departmentat Minia university hospital. Tools of data collection: Patient's assessment sheet and patient's outcomes assessment sheet after blood transfusion administration. Results: current study findings revealed that there were positive outcomes among study group as the highest percentage covered without signs and symptoms of immediate blood transfusion reactions constituted (70.40%) while there were negative outcomes among control group as the highest percentage covered with signs and symptoms of immediate blood transfusion reactions constituted (66.70%). It also showed that  there were five deaths of participants probable and possible related to blood transfusion among the control group that constituted (10.30%) & (2.60%)respectively. Conclusion: The study findings concluded that there was a statistical significant positive correlation between patient’s outcomes and implementing a designed blood transfusion nursing guideline among study groupRecommendations: Based on the research findings the researcher recommended that establishing skills and competencies tools for continuous assessment of nursing knowledge and practices can improve blood transfusion administration.

Abstract:Proper management of human resources is critical in providing a high quality of health care. A refocus on human resources maintenance in health care and more researches are needed to improve career development, decrease stress and burnout and improve the resilience of staff nurses. Effective human resources maintenance functions are greatly needed to achieve better outcomes from and access to health care around the world.Aim: Evaluate the effect of nurse managers’ human resource maintenance awareness on staff nurses’ career development and resilience. Research hypothesis:There is a positive effect of nurse managers’ human resource maintenance awareness sessions on staff nurses' career development and resilience. Methodology: Quasi-experimental design was utilized, the study was conducted at a governmental hospital in Alexandria city-Egypt, and participants were composed of 33 nurse managers and 381 nurses. Tools: Human Resources Maintenance Knowledge Questionnaire (HRMKQ), Career Development Questionnaire (CDQ), and Organizational Resilience Questionnaire (ORQ). Results: There was highly significant difference between personal factors, job-related factor, and organizational factors scores of nurses at pre, post and three months after awareness sessions’ intervention with p value <.01. Also, organizational resilience mean score at pre, post and three months later sessions’ intervention were (44.96±12.3) (72.4±15.6) and (69.1±13.7) respectively. Also, there was a highly positive correlation between human resources maintenance, career development and organizational resilience at p value <0.01. Conclusion: The present study concluded that there was a significant improvement in the overall nurse managers’ knowledge regarding human resource maintenance after attending the awareness sessions. Besides, it was revealed that the nurse managers’ human resource maintenance had a positive effect on staff nurses’ career development and resilience. Also, there was a positive correlation between staff nurses’ resilience and career development. Recommendations:  Hospital administration should allocate adequate equipment, supplies, and budgets to improve the concept of human resource maintenance to achieve effective nursing outcomes. Continuous education program for nurse managers regarding human resources maintenance.

Abstract: phytochemical composition and antimicrobial potential of ethyl ether crude extract of Tephrosia platycarpa was carried out using standard procedures. The following phytochemicals are present: alkaloids, phenols, steroids, tannins, terpenoids, cardiac glycosides, carbohydrates, proteins, amino acids, coumarins, triterpenoids, and quinone. On the antimicrobial potential, all the organisms tested were sensitive to the extract except Candida albicans at the Minimum Inhibitory Concentrations of 12.5, 25, 25, and 50mg/ml for Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella typhi, Bacillus subtillis, and Escherichia coli respectively. The extract was bactericidal against Staphilococcus aureus, Salmonella typhi and Escherichia coli at the Minimum Bactericidal Concentrations of 25, 50 and 100mg/ml in that order. From the result of the findings, the ethyl ether crude extract of Tephrosia platycarpa contains secondary metabolites with antimicrobial potential.

Abstract:Clinical risk management strategies emphases on refining the quality and safety of health care services by recognizing the conditions and chances that place patients at risk of harm and performing to stop these risks. Research purpose: This research explored evaluate the effect of developing risk managements nursing strategies on culture safety in critical care units at Damanhour National Medical Institute. Methods: A quasi- experimental pre and post –test research design was utilized. Critical and intensive care units at the time of conducting the study were recruited and arrange as follow: Neuro- surgery ICU (n=17), Coronary Care (n=16), Intensive care (n=20), at Damanhur National Medical Institute. The Subjects of this study comprised all staff nurses (n=53). Pre-designed Questionnaire Sheet: It was designed by the researcher in relation to nurses' characteristics as age, qualification, experiences, marital status, training course and working place. Culture Safety Attitudes Questionnaire (SAQ): It was used to measure safety culture. The critical care units version contains (30) items. Results: there was highly difference between scores of studied nurses according to team work climate, safety climate, job satisfaction and perception of management. But there was statically difference according to stress recognition and work conditions. 62.3% of studied nurses had low culture safety at pretest. While 71.7% of them had high culture safety at posttest and 66% of studied nurses had high culture safety at follow up test. There was high significance relation between age, qualification, years of experience and training courses with culture safety at p. value <0.01. There was highly significant positive predictor for Educational level, Years of experiences and Training course Conclusions: Developing risk management nursing strategies had highly positive improvement on culture safety. There was high significance relation between age, qualification, years of experience and training courses with culture safety.

Title:The impact of Developing Risk Managements Nursing Strategies on Nurse’s Culture Safety

Abstract:Early diagnosis of an extra uterine pregnancy is important for safe and effective management. However, a pregnancy's location often cannot be easily determined with abnormal implantations or prior to 5-6 weeks’ gestation. Multiple testing strategies exist to diagnose an abnormal pregnancy when location is unknown, but caution needs to be used to avoid a false diagnosis. Medical treatment is optimal when an abnormal pregnancy is diagnosed early. Because most of these pregnancies are intrauterine, additional testing to localize the pregnancy will allow the correct choice of therapy and avoids unnecessary exposure to a toxic therapy should be reserved for patients with significant concern for ectopic pregnancy, based on either risk factors or clinical findings.

Abstract:Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is a wellness program intended to improve positive coping mechanisms and decrease the perception of stress and burnout of psychiatric nurses in addition enhance superiority of care and excellence of lifecycle for patients in locked units. Aim: This study aimed to determine the effect of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program on psychiatric nurses’ job stress and burnout. Design: A quasi-experimental research design will be utilized in the study. Setting this study was carried out at Al-Abbassia hospital for mental health and addiction including inpatient units. Subjects: A convenient sample of 30 psychiatric nurses. The study tools were: 1) Sociodemographic sheet, 2) Psychiatric Nurses Job Stress Scale, 3) Maslach Burnout Inventory and 4) Mindful Attention Awareness Scale. The results: the study showed that there was a statistically significant difference between pre and post the program implementation regarding job stress, burnout and mindful attention awareness while, there was no statistically significant difference between post and follow up the Program. There was a statistically significant correlation between psychiatric nurses' job stress, burnout and mindful attention awareness pre, post & follow up the program implementation in addition there was a statistically significant relations between psychiatric nurses' job stress, burnout and mindful attention awareness with their socio-demographic characteristics pre and post the program implementation while, there was no statistically significant relations between psychiatric nurses' job stress and burnout with their socio-demographic characteristics during follow up the program. Conclusions: the main results showed that, psychiatric nurses' job stress, burnout and mindful attention awareness had dramatically improved after the program implementation while their level of job stress, burnout and mindful attention awareness had no improvement after the program follow up. Recommendations: MBSR should be implemented into continuous professional developmental programs at hospitals to decrease the stress, improve positive coping mechanisms of the nursing staff and maintain the compliance with the mindfulness practices through the daily life activities.

Abstract:Background: It is essential for provision nursing students throughout their education in evolving optimistic attitudes to individual by means of mental illness.
Objective: To assess the impact of mental health nursing course on nursing students regarding the perception of mental health, mental illness and mental health nursing.
Design: The research study was quasi-experimental with a single group pretest and posttest.
Settings: This study was conducted in a college of nursing in Karachi Pakistan.
Participants: The study sample was consisted of 73 undergraduate nursing students.
Methods: The data were collected through the MHN-I pretest and MHN-I posttest.
Results: Clinical and theory class positively influenced the students’ feelings of preparedness and levels of anxiety and negatively impacted perceptions of mental health nursing course. Conclusions: The mental health nursing course should be dedicated on changing stereotypes with correct information. Theory and clinical components makes positive contribution in providing services to mentally ill clients.

Abstract:Chronic kidney disease is a worldwide public health problem; approximately 18/1million of children suffers from chronic renal failure all over the world. Dialysis nurse plays a vital role in providing information, care, support, understanding and therapeutic counseling to the pediatric patient and his/her family throughout the entire illness. The study aimed to determine the effect of implementing evidence-based nursing guidelines on clinical outcomes of children undergoing hemodialysis. Subjects and method: Aquasi-experimental research design was utilized in this study. The study was carried out at the dialysis units of the Suez Canal University Hospitals and Ismailia General Hospital. A convenience sample of 60 nurses and 35 children undergoing hemodialysis was included in the study. Three tools were used; structured interviewing questionnaire sheet, observational checklists and children clinical outcomes assessment sheet. Results: Clinical outcomes of children were improved after implementing the nursing guidelines. There was a significant improvement in their intrahemodialytic blood pressure before and after three weeks of implementing the guidelines, where X2= 0.320 and p value=0.043. There was a highly statistically significant reduction in the frequency of intrahemodialytic muscle cramping and hypoglycemia three weeks after implementing the guidelines, where X2= 0.652, 3.320 and p value=0.000, 0.043 respectively. Conclusion: Nurses’ knowledge and practices were improved which in turn improved the clinical outcomes of children as reduction in the frequency of intrahemodialytic hypotension, muscle cramps and hypoglycemia. Recommendation: Periodic explanation and demonstration of evidence-based nursing guidelines for all nurses to improve clinical outcomes of children during hemodialysis sessions.

Abstract:During labor women suffering from an intense painful and traumatizing pain. Anxiety and pain are closely interrelated. Non- pharmacological interventions can affect maternal and neonatal outcomes in a positive way. Aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of listening to Holy Quran on maternal and neonatal outcomes among Muslim primiparous during the active phase of labor.  Design: A quasi experimental design was utilized. Study sample: A purposive sampling of (128) Muslim primiparous was divided randomly into two groups assigned to either Qur’an listening group or Non- Quran group. Tools of data collection: Visual Analogue Scale, Beck Anxiety Inventory, Apgar score and data to evaluate hemodynamic parameters were used. Results: The present study finding showed that in 1st, 2nd & 3rd hours of active phase after listening Quran there were statistically significant differences in labor pain, anxiety and hemodynamic parameters for the Quran group than the Non-Quran group (p= 0.001) in favor of the Quran group. Also, there was a statistically significant difference was found at the 5th minutes Apgar score between the two groups with improvement in Quran group. Regards the neonate's admission to intensive care unit the findings revealed that only (3.1%) newborns were admitted to ICU in Quran group compared to (15.6%) in the Non- Quran group. Conclusion: Listening to Qur’an is non-pharmacological effective measure for reducing labour pain, anxiety level, hemodynamic parameters of mothers also affected positively on neonatal outcomes. Recommendations: Integrating listening to Holy Quran as a non-pharmacological method to reduce pain, anxiety and improve neonatal outcomes in nursing care protocol for caring women during labor.

Abstract:Background: Radical nephrectomy (RN) is the standard treatment of choice for localized renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Ensuring that patients’ informational needs have been met before and after RN set the stage for successful management and improves recovery. Aims: To design and implement nursing teaching guidelines for patients undergoing RN and to evaluate the effect of implementing these guidelines regarding postoperative anxiety level, postoperative pain, early postoperative complications and length of hospital stay. Patients and methods: Prospective randomly categorized controlled trial research design. Sample; sixty adult patients undergoing RN at Assiut Urology and Nephrology University Hospital. Patients were randomized into two groups (study and control). Study group patients received the nursing teaching guidelines while the control group patients received the routine hospital care. Tools: I) Patient assessment sheet. II) State-Trait Anxiety Inventory for Adult. III) Numeric rating scale for pain. IV) Clavien-Dindo grading system and V) The designed nursing teaching guidelines. Results: Statistically significant differences were found between study and control groups regarding postoperative anxiety levels (< 0.01), postoperative pain (P < 0.01), early postoperative complications in the form of urinary tract infection (UTI) (P < 0.01) and length of hospital stay (P < 0.01). Conclusion: Study group showed a significant decrease in preoperative and postoperative anxiety, postoperative pain, UTI, and length of hospital stay than control group patients. Recommendation: Patients should be provided with sufficient information to remind them with specific instructions regarding treatment to avoid certain postoperative complications.

Abstract:Pharyngitis represented (28.4%) of upper respiratory tract infection of under-five years old children admitted to pediatric emergency departments worldwide and also 20–30% of all hospital admissions in the developing countries.  So using unnecessary antibiotic to treat those children remains an important area of research focus. In addition to WHO has estimated that more 50% of these drugs were prescribed and given inappropriately, ineffectively, and inefficiently. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate mothers’ knowledge, concerns, and practices about therapeutic regimen adherence of children with acute pharyngitis. A descriptive correlation design was used. Sample: A convenient sample of 400 of mothers for children their age above one and less than 5 years and having acute pharyngitis. Tools: three tools were used for data collection, namely; Nursing Outcomes Classifications Questionnaire sheet, survey Likert scale   and medical interview satisfaction scale that assess therapeutic regimen adherence of mothers for children with acute pharyngitis. Results:  Regarding mean and stander deviation of both Egyptian and Saudi mothers’ total knowledge score about definition, uses and side effects were (3.59 ± 1.72 , 4.63 ±1.46) where P=0.00. The mean and stander deviation was lower in Egyptian mothers than in Saudi one regarding to acute pharyngitis therapeutic regimen adherence with statistically significant differences where P=0.00. There were statistically significant differences observed between the Egyptian and Saudi mothers’ total medical interview satisfaction score where P=0.00. Conclusion: the majority of Saudi and Egyptian mothers had poor total knowledge score about antibiotic uses and side effects. In addition to there were a highly statistically significant differences between the mean scores of Egyptian and Saudi mothers' total medical interview satisfactory score and their therapeutic regimen adherence for children with acute pharyngitis. Recommendations: Educational Programs are needed to correct the deficit in knowledge and change the inappropriate attitude or practice of mothers about therapeutic regimen adherence of children with acute pharyngitis and also implement antibiotic sale regulations to restrict the unlimited access with applying penalties to the offenders

Abstract:The critical care nurse’s work environment conditions play a principal role in the caring process and thus impacting patient outcomes, patient and nurse satisfaction, and financial costs. Addressing the work environment must be a priority for healthcare organizations as a first step to establishing and sustaining a healthy work environment that promotes clinical and professional excellence. Although the concepts of a healthy work environment are well known in the healthcare setting, little is known about the association between the work environment conditions and the professional quality of care of nurses in the ICU. The information generated from this study will enable managers and administrators to have a better understanding of novel strategies to optimizing the work environment conditions of critical care nurses.
Aim: to evaluate the work environment of critical care nurses and to examine the relationship between work environment and critical care nurses’ professional quality of life.
Method: Design:A descriptive, correlational design was used.
Setting: The study was conducted at a variety of ICU of open heart surgery, trauma unit, surgical ICU, Medical ICU and Neurosurgical ICU at Menoufia University Hospital, Shebin El-Kom city, Egypt.
Sample: A convenient sample of 160 critical care nurses were enrolled in the study.
Instrument: The demographic data form; Healthy Work Environment Assessment Scale; Professional Quality of Life scale.
Results: Findings indicate moderate levels of compassion fatigue, burnout, and secondary traumatic stress and that work environment need improvement. Also, there is no statistical significant relationship between the nurses’ perception of their work environment and their professional quality of life (P > 0.05). 
Recommendations: Designing and implementing programs to increase nurses' Compassion Satisfaction levels and reduce their Compassion Fatigue. Designing educational programs to be integrated in the nursing curriculum and making policies that can help improve nurses' clinical proficiency.

Abstract:Background: Effective decisions prevent and solve problems in health care organizations. Emotional intelligence and locus of control assist managers to utilize a competent style of decision making in a different situations. Aim of the study: The present study aims to assess emotional intelligence, locus of control, and decision-making style of nursing managers.  Besides, investigating linking emotional intelligence, and locus of control to decision making style of nursing managers. Subjects and Methods: A descriptive correlational design was utilized. The study included all nursing managers who were responsible for making decisions related to nursing services at the main Mansoura university hospital and its medical centers. Data were collected through using three scales; emotional intelligence scale, locus of control scale, and general decision-making styles scale.  Results: Nursing managers had a high level of emotional intelligence and a moderate level of locus of control. There was a statistically significant correlation between the emotional intelligence of nursing managers and their decision making styles. Also, there was a significant correlation between decision-making styles of nursing managers (intuitive, dependent, and spontaneous), and their locus of control. Conclusion: Emotional intelligence, and locus of control correlated with styles of decision making of nursing managers. Recommendations:  Emotional intelligence training program should be implemented for nursing staff who are prepared for managerial positions. Conducting orientation workshops about decision-making styles and their influences on patients, organizations, and nursing staff.

Abstract:This review aims to create a framework that shows how the nursing practices offered during rehabilitation of patients with Spinal Cord Injuries relate to their functional ability. Data source: articles from six databases including Google Scholar, PubMed, Medline, CINAHL and EMBASE (from 2011). Study selection: This review was done on theoretical and qualitative studies that study knowledge about functional ability of the patients and different nursing practices. Analysis and synthesis of the studies was later done through content analysis. Results: 2904 records were available in the initial search. In this review, the PRISMA explain the process of inclusion of 45 studies that met inclusion criteria bases on their study title and the abstract. Findings: Nurses add value to the rehabilitation process by helping and encouraging the patient to transfer the skills learned in therapy sessions to their daily routine Another finding is that rehabilitation nursing practices have a significant relationship with the patients function ability. Conclusion:  Findings create nurses awareness and health care providers on the needs of patients with SCI and offers direction for further research.

Abstract:Background: Numerous researchers have found a recurrent co-occurrence of craving & psychological distress among addict patients'. Thus,  this necessitate applying  evidence-based practice like the EFT techniques that  are  characterized by its simplicity, and used it as a self-help tool for managing  craving , and psychological symptoms like anxiety and depression. Aim: This study aimed to assess the effect of emotional freedom techniques on psychological symptoms & cravings among patients with substance related disorders. Design: Quasi experimental research design was used. Setting: The present study was conducted at Elmaamoura Hospital for psychiatric Medicine in Alexandria.  Subjects: The subjects of the study comprised of 90 patients. Tools: Three tools were used:, Tool I: Interview questionnaire sheet (Socio-demographic and clinical data)., Tool II: Substance –related disorders &Alcohol Cravings ( The Penn Alcohol Craving Scale( PACS),Tool III: The Symptom Checklist  90 scale  (SCL-90 R),Results: Applying psycho-educational program of emotional freedom techniques (EFT) significant reducing level of craving, and All statistically significant decrease was observed in the three global indices ( GSI,PSDI,PST)  and all of the SCL-90 subscales nine dimensions  after the sessions , indicating a reduction in psychological distress( P < 0.005    ). Conclusion: Applying psycho-educational program of emotional freedom techniques (EFT) significant reducing level of craving, significant improvements in psychological symptoms among substance related disorders patients'. Recommendations: These results demonstrate that EFT could be an efficient adjunct tool for addiction treatment by reducing the high levels of craving & decreasing severity of the general psychological symptom distress among addict patients.

Abstract:Gastrointestinal disorders (GIDs) are most common in patients with end-stage kidney failure who undergoing dialysis. Aim: to evaluate the influence of teaching lectures on improving nurses' knowledge and patients outcomes regarding gastrointestinal disorders during hemodialysis sessions. Subject and methods: Design: A quasi-experimental design was used for the present study. Setting: The study was carried out at the hemodialysis unit at Benha University .Subjects: A convenient sample of (40 nurses) working in the hemodialysis unit at Benha University Hospital, with (45 adult patients) included. Tools: interview questionnaire sheet and GI disorder teaching lectures to evaluate nurses, and observation checklist to evaluate patients. Results: the present study showed that nearly half of studied patients were in the age group from 50 years to less than 60 years, males, and about three fourth of the patients lived in rural areas, less than half of the participants were illiterate, more than one-third of them were not work or retired and more than one fourth are housewives. Concerning income, slightly more than two-third of studied subjects had insufficient income, and their family number ranged from 4-6 members. There was a highly statistically improvement in the total level of nursing knowledge regarding gastrointestinal symptoms, post-implementation of teaching guidelines when comparing with pre, and immediate implementation of teaching lectures, also when comparing with pre and 3 months after implementation of teaching lectures at (p≤ 0.01). Conclusion: implementation of teaching guidelines knowledge regarding gastrointestinal disorders was effective in improving the level of nursing knowledge and patients′ outcome. Recommendations: there is a requirement for continued education for both new and current nursing staff in dialysis unit about prevention of gastrointestinal disorders with periodic evaluation for their knowledge to assess what needs and appraisals.

Abstract:Knowledge is found to be the main building block for the innovational process. Moreover, Knowledge sharing generates key information that ultimately facilitates and predicts organizational innovation Aim of the study: identifying the effect of knowledge sharing training program on innovative behavior among nurse teachers. Design: Quisi- experimental research design: pretest-posttest design.  Setting: all secondary Technical Nursing Schools at Elfayoum governorate. Subjects: All the available nurse teachers who are working in the designated setting involved in the study. Tools of data collection: three data collection tools were used namely: Awareness questionnaire sheet, Knowledge sharing readiness questionnaire, and Innovative Behavior Inventory. Result: There were highly statistically significant differences between nurse teacher’s total awareness regarding knowledge sharing, and nurse teacher's total readiness to share knowledge throughout program phases. Moreover, there were highly statistically significant differences between satisfactory level of total innovative behavior among nurse teachers throughout program phases. Additionally, there was a positive highly statistically significance correlation between total readiness to share knowledge score and total awareness score, and between total innovative behavior score and total awareness score among nurse teachers throughout program phases. Conclusion: total readiness to share knowledge, and total innovative behavior among nurse teachers level was improved markedly throughout program phases. Recommendations: Organizations should stimulate knowledge sharing beyond the usual emphasis that can improve nurse teachers’ understanding of local routines and environments, and their capability to introduce innovation at work. Innovation and creativity can be developed through enabling knowledge and new ideas to be shared. Future investigation might include the impact that the nurse teachers’ knowledge sharing has on Innovative behavior.
