Abstract:We are challenged to assess the quality of the services we provide. Endoscopy nurses play a critical role in the provision of safe & high quality endoscopy care. This study aimed to evaluate effectiveness of protocol of nursing intervention on the indicators of quality of care (patient's satisfaction, patient education, patient's complains and complications) in upper endoscopy unit. A quasi-experimental study of two groups of patients was undertaken in upper endoscopy unit at Menoufia University hospital in Egypt. All patients undergoing upper endoscopy and discharged to their place of residence, between the hours of 0.8 AM to 0. 2 PM for a period of 8 weeks were eligible for the study. They were recruited into two groups one before the introduction of the intervention (n= 30) and one after the introduction of the intervention (n=30).The protocol of nursing intervention comprised three separate components: 1) In-service training workshop for all staff in upper endoscopy unit about principles of care; 2) patient education and 3) development of a patient liaison nurse who ensured optimal staff–patient community communication and played a role in staff communication education). Data were collected using the following tools:1)Interviewing Questionnaire to assess a- Patient’s Sociodemographic and Medical data and b- Patient’s Information and 2) Patient Satisfaction Questionnaire to assess Patient’s Satisfaction. The quality of care was better in post- intervention group compared with the pre-intervention one. Significant improvements were observed in the post-intervention group in patients' satisfaction and provision of discharge planning (p<0.05), and there was a decrease in the number of patient complaints received in post-intervention period (28 (93.33) - 11 (36.67).The findings of the present study concluded that the protocol of nursing intervention implemented  in upper endoscopy unit had positive impact on quality of care which indicated by improvements in patient satisfaction and discharge information and decrease in patient complains.

Abstract:Pressure ulcer is a serious health problem on patients, reduction of pressure ulcer prevalence rate requiring patient centered care not only focus by individualized nurses management but also with an interdisciplinary team approach.
Aim: The study aimed to apply an interdisciplinary team approach for the prevention and management of pressure ulcer. Method: A Longitudinal study design was implemented to establish the study.
Setting: Dar Al Fouad hospital is a private hospital with JCI accreditation. 
Sample: All available (83) nurses working at the inpatients units.
Tool of Data Collection: Organizational assessment tool aimed to assesses the organizational system of pressure ulcer risk assessment, prevention and management.
Results: The findings of the study revealed that the mean scores of cases with pressure ulcer were decreased after application of the interdisciplinary team approach respectively pre-implementation (2014 =1.4), during implementation (2015 = 0.9), after implementation (2016 = 0.6). 
Recommendations: Facilitations and barriers of the application of interdisciplinary team approach should be analyzed to ensure effective patients outcome. Furthermore, evaluate the nurses' experience of interdisciplinary team co-management, Pursuing hospital management to engage patients and families in the care plan of pressure ulcer risk prevention and management.

Abstract:Pregnancy is considered a stressful event that may create a physiological and psychological threatening situation especially in pregnant woman for the first time .Therefore, it is mandatory to highlight the importance of physiological and psychological care for the pregnant women, from the onset of gestation, with the purpose of developing resources to adapt to the new situation and improve women's physical and psychological health.
The aim of the study: The present study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of an educational booklet- about physiological and psychological aspects during pregnancy- on prenatal stress, anxiety and coping among primigravida women.
Study setting: The study was carried out at outpatient prenatal clinic in Tanta University Hospital.
Study design: A quasi- experimental research design was used.
Study subjects: - A convenience sample consisted of 60 pregnant women who attended the above mentioned setting .They were randomly assigned to an equal two groups (the study or control group).
Tools of data collection: -Four tools were used to collect the data of the study; Sociodemographic and Obstetric characteristics questionnaire sheet, State Anxiety Inventory (SAI), Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) and The Revised Prenatal Coping Inventory (NUPCI).
Results: -The study revealed that there was statistically significant difference between study and control groups in relation to anxiety, stress and coping after receiving an Educational Booklet- about physiological and psychological aspects during pregnancy.
Conclusion and recommendations: -The study concluded that educational booklet about the physiological and psychological aspects of pregnancy led to a significant decrease in anxiety and stress level, and better coping among primigravida women. The study recommended that healthcare planners, authorities, and health care providers should have policies and protocols that address screening and education for pregnant women about physiological and psychological aspects of pregnancy and coping strategies.

Abstract:Water-borne diseases are one of the major public health problems and they are the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in all age groups. Good knowledge and practice of the  health care workers serve as the first line in diagnosis, treating, prevention and notification of  the water-borne diseases. The aim of the study: to evaluate effect of the self-learning module on knowledge and practices of health team workers regarding water-borne diseases. Subjects and Method: Study design: In this study Quasi-experimental design was used. Settings: This study was conducted in three Maternal and Child Health Care Centers and one Rural Health Unit. Study subjects: All health team who worked in the previous sitting were included in the study involved: community health nurses, health officers (physician), environmental health technicians (sanitarians) and medical laboratory technicians. Tools of data collection: Three tools were used for data collection Tool I: Socio-demographic characteristic of health team workers. Tool II: Knowledge regarding water- borne diseases: This tool composed of two parts: Part (1): Knowledge regarding water borne diseases for all categories of health team workers. Part (2): Knowledge for each specific categories of health team regarding water borne diseases. Tool III: A self-reported practice of health team regarding the water borne diseases. Results: The total sample size was (170) health workers. The majority of them were nurses (74.7%), while the health officer, environmental health technicians, and the laboratory health technicians represent (5.9 %, 10.6% & 8.8% respectively). The health officers achieved the highest score of correct, and complete answers in pre and post-implementation of learning module followed by laboratory technicians, environmental health technicians, and the nurses. Regarding the practice there were statistically significant differences in the total practices regarding the water-borne diseases pre and post-implementation of self-learning modules for community health nurses, environmental health technicians as p (P < 0.05), while there are no significant differences for health officers and laboratory technicians Conclusions: This study concluded that the self-learning module has a positive effect on  improving knowledge and practices of health team workers regarding water-borne diseases. Recommendations: The finding of the present study recommended that, there was a need for continues training programs for health team workers about water-borne diseases. Pre in-services training and periodic refreshment in-service education and training especially for newly through seminars & workshops should be regularly organized by MCH centers in collaboration with health Administrators for health team workers.

Abstract:Stoma surgery has a major effect on patient's quality of life (QOL).
Objective: Identify QOL among patients living with stoma.
Setting: The study was performed at the outpatient clinics of colorectal and urological surgical departments at Alexandria Main University Hospital.
Subjects: A convenience sample of100 adult patients with stoma was comprised, 50 patients with colostomy and 50 patients with urostomy.
Tool: One tool was used to gather the necessary data: Ostomy patient QOL structured interview schedule measured the stoma patient's QOL which composed of two sections. The 1stsection includes two parts: Part one: concerned with sociodemographic and clinical data. Part two: includes33 closed and open questions about personal data. The 2ndsection contains 43 QOL items measured by using 10-point scales. The QOL items are splitinto 4domains: physical, social, psychological and spiritual well-being.
Results: The results revealed thateducational level, type of residence, resumed sexual activity since ostomy, suicide attempt and problems of stoma had significant effects on overall QOL among colostomy and urostomy patients, where p≤0.05.
Conclusion: It was concluded that the QOL among colostomy and urostomy patients were poor in all domains of physical, psychological, social, and spiritual with statistically significant differences between them.
Recommendations: Stoma patients must be informed about the life with stoma before the operation and must be supported throughout the life.

Abstract:Quantifying risky people for diabetes mellitus is important to allow for rational planning for delaying of the onset of the disease. Therefore, we designed this study to identify people at risk for developing Type 2 diabetes mellitus as a key strategy in prevention or delaying onset of diabetes among Saudi population. Subject and Method; one hundred and six Saudi  men and women (20 - ≥ 65 Yrs.) live in Skaka City share into this cross - sectional pilot study as a convenient sample from Saudi community. Two tools used into this study, Socio-demographic and Type 2 Diabetes Risk Assessment Form. Results; The study results estimated that more than one third of the studied sample (36.80%) had moderate risk of diabetes, about one third had high risk of diabetes (34.00%), and only 13.20% had low risk of diabetes. There are statistically significant differences between age, sex, level of education and risk of diabetes. Conclusion/ Interpretation; Saudi nation at risk for diabetes mellitus. They need life modifications. Women and men of all ages should avoid becoming overweight. They should maintain a moderate level of physical activity, avoid smoking, avoid stress, take vegetable and fruits daily, decrease sweets, sugars, and fatty diet.

Abstract: Medications are part of the patient treatment plan, appropriate management about it is critical to ensure patient safety. High Alert Medication (HAM) consists of medications which can be associated with adverse outcomes and always carry some degree of risk. Nurses' with insufficient knowledge is considered to be one of the most significant factors contributing to medication administration errors.  Aim: Assessing performance of the staff nurses when dealing with HAM. Subjects and methods: The study was conducted in the International Medical Center (IMC) which affiliated to ministry of defence. The subjects of this study consisted of 180 nurses who are working in IMC full time with experience at least one year. 89 nurses were working in critical care units while 91 nurses were working in medical- surgical units. Data were collected by using observational checklist. Results: Nurses had inadequacy performance regarding different dimensions of dealing with HAM as, identification (13.3%), sharing in prescription (24.0 %), ordering of HAM (26.8 %) and in patient involvement (12.5 %) Recommendations: Establish an educational program for nurses about deal with HAM is a must.  Conclusion: Nurses had inadequacy performance regarding different dimensions of dealing with HAM.

Abstract:Sugar is an addictive substance that produces pathophysiological changes similar to those in drug addiction. The aim of the study was to assess sugar addiction level among non-diabetic patients. Two research questions were formulated to fulfill the aim of this study: a- What is sugar addiction level among the study sample? b-What are the demographic and medical characteristics of sugar addiction patients? A descriptive exploratory research design was utilized. The study was conducted at one medical and one surgical ward in a big teaching hospital in Egypt. A convenient sample of 200 adult male and female patients was collected over a period of three months. Two tools were used to collect data: (1) Demographic and medical related data sheet (2) Sugar Addiction Questionnaire Sheet. Results of the study revealed that, the majority of the study sample had moderate to severe sugar addiction level. Moreover, age, gender, income per month, and Body Mass Index showed to be the variables that had significant impact on sugar addiction response. The study recommended including the concept of sugar addiction in the nursing curriculum as a new health problem concept.

Abstract:Stress among nursing students is a paramount concern of nursing education because it is known that stress is associated with the development of anxiety and depression, these three problems lead to poor psychological wellbeing that interferes with learning and limit the academic performance of students. This study aimed to investigate levels of stress, anxiety, and depression among baccalaureate nursing students. Descriptive research design was employed in the present study, and the study was conducted in faculty of nursing Tanta University in Tanta city, Egypt. The actual number of study sample was 382 nursing students. Study tool was consisted of two parts, Part one: socio-demographic data and academic data; it was developed by researcher. Part two: Depression, Anxiety, and stress scales (DASS-42); it developed by Lovibond S.h and Lovibond P.F (1995).The results of the present study concluded that  symptoms of stress, anxiety, and depression are highly among undergraduate nursing students. There are a positive association between stress, anxiety and depression. Moreover the female students were more experienced than male. Based on these findings the following recommendations are suggested: Nursing students should be evaluated routinely by mental health professional to detect any psychological discomfort and that affect mental status and academic achievements. Nursing educators should help nursing students to recognize sources of stress and offer various opportunities to enhance their coping effectively, and engage nursing students in to training program about learn solving skills, stress management, effective coping methods, communication skills, time management, and solving conflict.

Abstract:Osteoporosis is a serious health problem among women that lessens the quality of life and takes up many financial assets for its prevention and treatment. The aim of the study: was to identify osteoporosis preventive behaviors among women based on the health belief model and self-efficacy in Tanta city. Subjects and method: Study design: - In this study, the descriptive cross-sectional study design was used. Study settings: - This study was conducted in all outpatient clinics and departments of Medical- Surgical, and Orthopedic, in Tanta University Hospital. In addition, Maternal and Child Health Centers (MCH) affiliated to the Ministry of Health in Tanta city, El- Gharbia Governorate, there were seven maternal, and child health centers representing five districts of Tanta city. The researchers chose these places because they had a high rate of attended women seeking different medical services. Study subjects: The studied subjects were 1200 women who attended the study settings through the study period (six months). Tools of data collection: Four tools were used by the researchers. Tool I: A structured interview schedule which it consisted of three parts: - part one: Personal characteristics, part two: Osteoporosis preventing behaviors and part three: Anthropometric measurements. Tool ІІ: Osteoporosis Health Belief Scale (OHBS), Tool III: -Osteoporosis Knowledge Assessment Test (OKAT) and Tool IV: Osteoporosis Self-Efficacy Scale (OSES).Results: -Few percentages of the studied women assumed osteoporosis preventive behaviors, and 76.8% of them had poor knowledge about osteoporosis. For the Osteoporosis Health Belief Scale (OHBS), the studied women had the negative belief about their susceptibility to osteoporosis, barriers to exercise, and barriers to calcium intake. In addition, there was a significant difference between positive and negative OHBS, also positive and negative Self- Efficacy Scale (SES) P<0.05. Conclusion: Most of the studied women had a poor score of knowledge about osteoporosis, and only little percentage of them followed osteoporosis preventive behaviors. More than two- thirds of the studies women had a negative osteoporosis health believe score. Recommendations: Educational programs are suggested to encourage primary health care providers to consult women at reproductive age about osteoporosis preventions. Integrate early detection and management of osteoporosis in orthopedic or rheumatology outpatient clinics in Tanta university hospital and other health facilities.

Abstract:To explore the association between quality of life (QoL) and osteoporosis, in elderly women in a Greek population.
Methods: A total of 100 elderly patients were divided into two groups: elderly patients with primary osteoporosis (case group, n = 50) and normal elderly patients (control group, n = 50). Quality of life was compared between the two groups.
Results: Quality of life was significantly different between the case and control groups. The physical function, role-physical, bodily pain, general health, vitality, social-functioning, role-emotional, mental health, and total scores in case group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P < 0.01).
Conclusion: Quality of life, in elderly patients with osteoporosis in a Greek population, was poorer than in elderly patients without osteoporosis. Our findings indicate that increased efforts to improve the social support and quality of life in elderly osteoporosis patients are needed in Greece. Further longitudinal studies should be conducted to provide more clinical evidence to determine causative factors for the observed association between quality of life and osteoporosis.

Abstract:Rheumatoid arthritis is one of the commonest autoimmune disease. It affects about 1% of the population worldwide. Rheumatoid arthritis has significant impact on quality of life and ability to perform daily activities.
Aim: Assess the quality of life of rheumatoid arthritis patients.
Design: A cross sectional design was utilize.
Setting: This study was conducted in Kafer El Sheikh Governorate at the following hospitals that affiliated to Minastery of Health and Population rheumatoid outpatient clinic at Kafer El-Sheikh General Hospital, and orthopedic outpatient clinics at Central Hospital, and Desouk Central Hospital, Egypt.
Subjects: Convenient sampling technique was use to select 125 patients from rheumatoid outpatient clinic at Kafer El-Sheikh General Hospital, and orthopedic outpatient clinics at Central Hospital, and Desouk Central Hospital.
Tools: Data collection lasted 10 weeks by using Four structured interview questionnaires to assess socio demographic and economic characteristics, knowledge, health status, and quality of life of rheumatoid arthritis patients.
Results: The study showed that rheumatoid arthritis patients were less impaired in physical functioning, and emotional well-being, whereas they were more impaired in role limitations due to physical health, role limitations due to emotional problems, pain, and general health. Accordingly they were more impaired in total quality of life. Finally most of them had good total score levels of knowledge about the rheumatoid arthritis.  
Recommendations: Evaluation  the impact of rheumatoid arthritis on patients' quality of life by using different tools as short form 36 and health assessment questionnaire in outpatient clinics. And education program should be activated for nursing staff to equip them with knowledge and practice about rheumatoid arthritis, to rehaplitate  rheumatoid arthritis patients.

Abstract:Telenursing is methods of remote care for improving the quality of patient’s care. Nurses have a key role to play in the application and implementation of telenursing services .It is therefore expected of them to understand their role so as not go behind their locus of duty.
Aim: The present study aimed to determine the effect of educational program about telenursing for nursing intern on their knowledge and attitude at Benha University Hospital.
Design: A quasi-experimental design was used.
Setting: The study was conducted at different clinical departments at Benha University Hospital .
Sample: A systematic random sample was used consisted of (55) nursing intern at the previously mentioned setting.
Tools: two tools were used for data collection.
Tool I: Nursing intern Knowledge Regarding Telenursing Questionnaire and
Tool II: Nursing intern Attitude Scale toward using Telenursing.
Results: The result revealed that more than half of nursing intern had good knowledge scores (58.2%) regarding telenursing post-program as compared to preprogram there was the majority and they had nursing intern have a positive attitude toward using telenursing  immediate post -program and follow up (after 3months)of the program.
Conclusion: The current study concluded that, a  statistically significant difference with an improvement in knowledge and attitude scores among nursing intern total knowledge and total attitude immediate post- program and follow up (after 3 months )as compared to  preprogram in all dimensions. Also the statistically significant correlation between total knowledge and total attitude before the program and follow up (after 3months)of the program .
Recommendations: The study recommended that enhance telenursing in nursing practice and it should be provided in the nursing administration curriculum.

Abstract:Psychological well-being of ambulance personnel is essential in order to perform work duties effectively and cope with the stressful work environment. This is in turn will improve their general health and enhance their work skills.
Objective: To determine the psychological well-being among ambulance personnel.
Design: A descriptive research design.
Settings:  The study was carried out in twenty seven ambulance stations in Elbeheira
Subjects: All ambulance personnel in the previously mentioned stations were included in the study. Their number amounted to 100.
Tools: Two tools were used: Socio-demographic and Clinical data structured Interview Schedule, and Psychological well-being scale.
Results: More than two thirds of the study subjects have psychological well-being. The main factors associated with their psychological well-being were family and peer support.
Conclusion: Ambulance personnel had a psychological well –being and positive relationships “family and peer support” had a significant and positive effect on their psychological well-being and either verbal or physical abuse was the main stressor they face during their work.
Recommendation: In- service training program for all ambulance personnel in Elbeheira is important to be scheduled periodically about coping with work stressors in order to help them to express their feelings and work effectively.

Abstract:Bullying in Nursing has existed for decades and appears to be a growing concern as nurse retention and recruitment become crucial factors in sustaining health care system. Nursing is a job that requires mental health at desired levels, besides influencing studying the factor of achievements and self-esteem daily life a profound effect on the quality of professional practice in the future, and the staying in the profession. The study aimed to assess the relationship between bullying, achievement factors and self-esteem among Nursing Students. Design: Descriptive correlation design. Setting: at Faculty of Nursing, Benha University. Sample: Convenience sample consisted of 136 Nursing Students at the previously mentioned study setting. Tools: 1st tool: Self-administer Bullying in Nursing Education Questionnaire. 2ndtool: Contributing Factors to Advance Academic Achievement Questionnaire. 3rdtool: The Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale. Results: The current study revealed that the majority of Nursing Students were moderate perception level of bullying. While nurses, physician, patient and their families were the most frequent sources of bullying as perceived by students, also the highest percent of them had social relationships in university regarding achievement factors Therefore; more than two thirds of them had low level of self-esteem.  Conclusions: There was no statistically significant correlation between total bullying perception and total self-esteem, however, coping strategies were moderate level within the low level of self-esteem; there is a strong positive correlation between total self-esteem and total achievement factors. Recommendations:Conducting psycho-educational program and seminars sessions to raise awareness of bullying in nursing education that enhance their academic achievement and self-esteem.

Abstract:Achieving optimal flow of information, decision making and decision support, improve plans and actions, innovative problem solving which all lead to enormous health outcomes requires a decentralization of nursing management rather than traditional nursing management in which staff nurses' participations is either minimal or not exist. The
Aim:of this research is to measure the level of professional shared governance in one of the most high caliber and high performance hospital which work on a partnership with a developed country.
Method:a descriptive study design was used to examine the existence of professional shared governance and level of leadership competency by using two reliable scales of data collection, each scale applied to one group of staff nurses working in different nursing units.
Sample:a total of 70 participants' constituted a homogenous sample were divided into two equal groups.
Results: existence of shared nursing governance was evident by the first group, in addition to excellent level of leadership competency of head nurses were perceived by the staff nurses in the second group.
Conclusion:professional nursing governance was existed (total score=244/430, cutoff point of shared ≥173) which indicate to presence of primarily nursing management/administration with some staff nurse input combined with excellence level of leadership competency of head nurses (total score=245/260) that was perceived by staff nurses at the selected study setting.

Abstract:Fasting in Ramadan month for elderly with diabetes is a challenge, but numerous elderlies with diabetes select to fast despite the guidance for not to do by health professionals. Purpose: Assessment of the effect of Ramadan instructional program on glycemic control among elderly patients with diabetes. Design: A Quasi-experimental design was used. Setting: This study was conducted at five geriatric home in Cairo City (Hadaya Barakat, Al-Safa, Al-Marwa, Om- Hani and Al-Fayoum geriatric home). Sample:  APurposive sample of two hundred elderly patients with diabetes were divided into two groups (100 elderly patients with diabetes in each group), the first group was educated for Ramadan instructional program (intervention group), and the second group was not educated Ramadan instructional program (control group). Tools: 1- structured interviewing questionnaire concerned with (socio-demographic data and personal medical history). 2- Glucometers sheet. 3- adherence to a healthy diet sheet. 4- biochemical clinical and metabolic parameters charts. 5- Physical Activity Scale for the Elderly (PASE). Results: Elderly patients who developed hypoglycemia in the intervention group were less than control group (17.0% Vs 34.0%). Also, patients who developed hyperglycemia in the intervention group were less than control group (26.0% Vs 48.0%). Conclusion: Elderly patients who received Ramadan instructional program (intervention group) had more glycemic control than elderly patients who did not (control group). Recommendation: Specialized instructional program for glycemic control should be planned for elderly patients with diabetes before Ramadan.

Abstract:  Prostate cancer was rated the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths among men in the world. Studies have identified low awareness and lack of knowledge, perceptions, and negative attitudes toward prostate cancer as a barriers for screening and early detection of the disease. Aim: This study was conducted to assess the effect of prostate cancer program on elderly men perception. Design: A Quasi-experimental research design was utilized to achieve the aim of the study. Setting: This study was conducted at the urologic department, in outpatient clinic in Fayoum university hospital, Fayoum Governorate, Egypt. Sample: A purposive sample was used in this study, the total number was 550 patients, 50 of them excluded based on a pilot study. The patients have been selected according to the following criteria: above age of 60 years, male gender, with urinary disease requiring screening and treatment, with different educational levels, fully oriented and with no prior exposure for any educational or learning experience. All patients agreed to participate in the study. Tools: (I): the demographic data included: age, level of education, occupation, and marital status, (II): Respondents of screening testing, and (III): Men perception about prostate cancer. Results: Elderly people showed higher scores regarding their knowledge and perception regarding prostate cancer screening/test after implementing the Prostate cancer program (64.34 ± 12.00 and 30.77 ± 10.82)  compared to ( 51.82 ± 17. 94 and 15.21± 3.93) before implementing the Prostate cancer program Conclusion: Elderly people who received Prostate cancer program had high level of perception with prostate cancer screening/test. Recommendation: Specialized instructional program for Prostate cancer should be planned for elderly peoples and applied periodically.

Abstract:Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI) is called as a silent epidemic which is not a life threatening condition, but a worldwide problem at the same time. It affects the quality of life of at least one third of women globally in many ways and may limit women’s social and personal relationships.
Research design: A Quasi experimental pre/posttest design was utilized
Setting: The study was conducted in the urinary incontinence clinic of Alexandria Regional Center for Women’s Health and Development
Subjects: A total sample of 60 women with stress urinary incontinence was recruited by a purposive sampling approach. They were assigned randomly into two equal groups.   Group (I) study group comprised of 30 women; were given Kegel's exercise training program in addition to their routine care.  Group (II) control group consisted of 30 women; were receiving the routine care only. The study subjects who were willing to participate in the study were selected according to eligibility criteria.
Tools of the study: Four tools were used by the researchers namely; Tool 1: Basic data interview schedule, it included three parts, part i: Socio-demographic and obstetric history, part ii: Daily workload level and part iii: usual urination pattern. Tool II: Modified Oxford Grading Scale is a reliable and valid vaginal palpation rating scale, used to measure pelvic floor muscle strength. Tool III: Urogenital Distress Inventory - short form (UDI-6) and Tool IV: The modified Arabic version of Incontinence Impact Questionnaire (IIQ-7).
Findings: No statistically significant difference was found between the two groups in relation to their socio-demographic characteristics, for age, marital status and educational level. A highly statistically significant difference was found between the control and study groups, in relation to their mean pelvic floor muscle strength, symptoms of UI and impact on Quality of Life before Kegels' exercise compared to the end of twelve weeks of the study after training.
Conclusion and Recommendations: This study concluded that; Kegel's exercise for a duration not less than six weeks is an effective practice for SUI in women. It also, has significant positive effect on strengthens pelvic floor muscle, reducing SUI symptoms and significantly improves the QOL of women with SUI, which is a vital indicator of their psychosomatic, emotional, and social functions.

Abstract:Globally, the significant and increasing shortage of nurses is alarming. Nursing students’ perception towards the image of the nursing profession has an apparent impact on their self-concept, self-esteem, recruitment, retention, and performance. Aim: To describe and explore nursing students' perception of professional nursing image as a career choice at Applied Medical Sciences College, Taif University, Saudi Arabia. Subjects and methods: A descriptive online survey was conducted at previously mentioned setting. All nursing students (114) enrolled in the second semester academic year 2016/2017 and as well as agreed to participate were included in this survey. One questionnaire was used for data collection. Results: The present study's findings revealed that most of participant students entered nursing department due to their preparatory year grades. Likewise, the highest percentage of both male and female students feel proud when talking about nursing, while, a small percentage of them were shy and attack nursing. Conclusion: The majority of participant students from both gender have positive image about nursing profession. The highest percentage of positive image were among male students. Recommendations: Develop and organize an awareness program about nursing as a profession. This awareness program should be implemented in the most public visited places. Moreover, it could be very effective to arrange nursing awareness program at national day events to attract large numbers of young Saudi students into nursing.

Abstract:Studies have shown that low back pain is a common health problem among hospital nurses especially those working in Intensive Care Units. However, prevalence and the related risk factors in intensive care units needs to be widely  investigated . The aims of this study were to identify prevalence of low back pain and determine its related risk factors among nurses working in Intensive Care Units. Subjects: A purposive sample of all nurses who worked in intensive care units and meet the inclusion criteria. Setting: The study was conducted at four intensive care units of Menoufia University hospital. Tools of the study: Two tools were utilized for data collection as follow; Tool I: Interviewing questionnaire and Tool II: Observational checklist. Results: The prevalence of low back pain among studied nurses was high (85%). The most important and preventable risk factors for low back pain among studied nurses were higher body mass index, more average working hours/day, not enough working space, lower compliance of nurses with proper body mechanics and range of motion exercises during work .Conclusion: prevalence of low back pain among nurses working in intensive care units was  high (85%).  There were multi interrelated risk factors for low back pain among studied nurses: work, patients and personnel related factors. Recommendations: Periodic and continuous in-services training for nurses working in intensive care units on preventing and coping strategies for low back pain should be implemented.

Effect of Self-Care Educational Intervention Based on Orem’s Self Care Theory on Self-Care Management and Fasting Blood Glucose among Patients with Type 2 Diabetes, Bahiga Galal Abd El-Aal, Samia Ali El-Nagar, ISSN 2394-7330, International Journal of Novel Research in Healthcare and Nursing, Novelty Journals
Abstract:Diabetes is one of the most common chronic health problems with alarming rapid increase worldwide. It is associated with many serious complications and self-management is essential to prevent or delay such complication. Aim: Examine the effectiveness of self-care education intervention based on Orem Self Care theory on self-care management and level of fasting blood sugar among patients with type 2diabetes and determine the relationship between appraisal of diabetes and self-care management among patients with type 2 diabetes. Design: Quasi-experimental design. Subjects and setting: A purposive sample consisted of 110 patients with type 2 diabetes, attending the diabetes outpatient clinic in Menouf's General Hospital at Menouf City, Menoufia Governorate, Egypt. Tools: Structured interview questionnaire sheet that concerned with socio-demographic data and patient’s clinical data. Appraisal of Diabetes Scale used to determine diabetic patient’s self-appraisal of diabetes. Diabetes Knowledge Questionnaire that concerned with assessing of patients' knowledge about type2 diabetes. Diabetes Self-Management Questionnaire that was used to assess diabetes self-care management activities over the last eight weeks.
Results: Most of patients with type 2 diabetes had no previous education about diabetes, 42.7% had diabetes related complications, 64.5% appraised their diabetes as stressful and harmful for their daily life. The majority of diabetics had unsatisfactory level of knowledge and about half had low self-care management. Diabetics with satisfactory level of knowledge were significantly increased from 25.5% to 84.5% after the educational intervention based on Orem Self Care theory and increased the level of good self-management as well.  The educational intervention resulted in significant control of the mean fasting blood sugar from 171 mg/dL ± 42.52 to 131 mg/dL ±27.37. Negative appraisal of diabetes associated with decreased diabetes self-care management.  
Conclusion: The implemented educational intervention based on Orem Self Care theory has significant effects in improving on self-care management, diabetes related knowledge and reducing level of fasting blood sugar among patients with type 2diabetes. Patient's appraisal of diabetes affects their self-care management. Accordingly, designing and implementing Orem-based self-care management program can be used for improving self-care management of patients with type 2diabetes and thereby improving the disease outcomes.

Abstract:To determine the blood glucose response of the dietary fiber in healthy volunteers and To determine satiety response of the dietary fiber in healthy volunteers
Settings and Design: It was an interventional study design conducted in hospital setting for three days.
Methods and Material: This study was done on 32 healthy subjects aged between 18 and 65 years having random blood sugar less than 200 mg/dl and BMI between 18.5 to 27 kg/m2.  Soluble non-viscous dietary fiber blend obtained from Wheat Dextrin and Guar Gum named as MYFY was given to subjects. The subjects were randomized in two groups one who consumed standard breakfast (Aloo Paratha and Idli Sambhar) and the other consuming standard breakfast along with MYFY.  The subjects were given 5 gms of sachet along with breakfast for 3 days. Blood glucose levels were monitored at the intervals of 15, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 and 180 minutes to observe the mean plasma glucose response post breakfast. Satiety was analyzed using questionnaire.
Statistical analysis used: Statistical analysis was performed using the Microsoft office excel 2007.
Results: The results revealed that the Glycemic response of MYFY is low. Consumption of MYFY along with food has caused a delay in the peak glycemia by almost 50%. The subjects stayed satiated after eating for almost 45 minutes more after consuming fiber along with food. Thus, the findings concluded that MYFY has effect in lowering the glycemic index of the food by prolonging the peak blood glucose levels. Also, MYFY keeps satiated for longer period of time and reduce the hunger feeling.     
Conclusions: There is positive impact of soluble fiber especially Guar Gum and Wheat Dextrin blend MYFY on Glycemic and Satiety response.

Abstract:This article concentrates on the practical management of those with seizures by general nurses. It focuses on the role of the practice nurse is primary care. Epilepsy is a chronic long –term condition and the main function of the student nurse is advisory and educational act as a facilitator.
Objective: Determine the Effectiveness of knowledge and practices towards first aid epilepsy seizures management among nursing students.
Method:
Research Design: Pre experimental one group pretest-posttest design
Setting: Foundation Lab at Nursing College.
Participants: 50 Nursing Students who satisfied the inclusion criteria
Intervention: Structure questionnaire knowledge and epilepsy triggers and symptoms were administered pretest the same day role play practices was implemented. Posttest was conducted with the same on the fifth day
Results: Majority of the students (60%) had inadequate knowledge and (36%) had moderately adequate knowledge in pre test. Whereas, in post test (30%) of students had moderately adequate knowledge and (70%) had adequate knowledge. Role play practices assessment of post test (M=30.8, SD=3.47) was higher than that of in the pretest (M=18.3, SD=4.64).The difference was found to be statistically significant at P<0.001level which indicates the effectiveness of role play practices assessment of students.
Conclusion: Nurses need to be conversant and practically competent to deal with the first aid management of seizure.

Abstract:Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a common, serious cause of chronic liver disease and liver damage. The World Health Organization (WHO) has reported that more than 500 million people are living with chronic viral hepatitis in the world. Health-care workers including nurses are potentially at high risk of blood-borne diseases such as HCV. Aim: This study aimed to do screening of HCV infection among final year nursing students at faculty of nursing and technical institute of nursing at Helwan University. Design: This study utilized a descriptive- analytical research design. Setting: The study was carried out in the faculty of nursing and technical institute of nursing at Helwan university, Egypt. Sample: Convenient sample of 220 male and female students,101 students from second  year of technical institute of nursing and 119 students from fourth year of faculty of nursing. Tools: Two tools were being utilized to collect data, this tools were developed by the researchers it includes: I- Socio-demographic data sheet: It covers socio-demographic characteristics such as age, sex, educational level, current residence and marital status. II- Knowledge Assessment tool: It involves questions related to symptoms, mode of transmission, prevention, treatment, diagnosis and complications of HCV. Results: The study revealed that (55.5%) of the study  sample age ranged from 21 year to 23 year, with mean age 1.55±.498 and (50.9%) of them were males. There is also significant correlation between current residence and gender and between total awareness of prevention and treatment of HCV and total awareness of its complications. Conclusion: The results of this study illustrated a statistically significant correlation between total knowledge of HCV and total awareness of prevention, treatment and it's symptoms. There is a significant correlation between total awareness of prevention, treatment of HCV and its complications. Recommendations: Expand hepatitis C virus screening into other faculties in the university because most of university students come from rural areas .Health education about hepatitis C infection by running awareness programs for all students especially for non-medical students in order to raise awareness of them by HCV.

Abstract:Although continuing education is necessary for practicing nursing, it is very difficult to organize traditional classes because of large numbers of nurses, so the need for the electronic learning is very vital.
The aim of the study was: to determine web-based learning versus traditional demonstration method for breast self-examination module on the academic achievement of female community health nursing students.
Subjects and Method: The study design was quasi-experimental study design.
Study settings: This study was conducted at the Faculty of Nursing, Tanta University.
Study subjects:  The study sample consisted of 200 students divided into two groups: nontraditional group (A) of 100 students studying with web-based learning (WBL) and traditional group (B) of 100 students who studying with traditional demonstration method.
Tools of data collection: Three tools were adapted by the researcher to collect the necessary data.
Tool I: Socio –demographic characteristic of the students.
Tool II: Students' knowledge about breast self -examination.
Tool III: Breast self - examination practice Observational checklist.
Results: The results of this study showed that more than half of female students (59% -57%) for traditional and nontraditional groups respectively had a good level of knowledge with no a statistically significant difference between the two the methods of teaching during immediate posttest (p=0.959). Nearly half (47% and 45% respectively) of the students had a good practice score regarding BSE immediate posttest among both groups.
Conclusion and Recommendation: The present study revealed that, there was no a statistically significant difference between two different of teaching methods regarding knowledge of BSE during immediate and post-test. There was a significant difference between the two groups' pre and post-test only regarding the practice of BSE. This BSE module was more an effective in BSE practice retention. Therefore, a pressing need for updating of the nursing curricula and conducting of health education programs about BSE.

Abstract:Breast cancer is the most common cancer and the second cause of cancer deaths in women worldwide as well as in Egypt.
Aim: This study was to study the effect of education with visual material based on health belief model on female teachers’ breast cancer screening and breast self examination.
Design: A quasi experimental design with pre and post test was utilized.
Sample: The total sample of 200 female teachers filled the questionnaires and completes the study.
Setting: Study was carried out at governmental secondary schools at Shebin El kom city and Melig village at Menoufia Governorate. A multi stage random sample technique was used for the selection of two setting to implement the study.
Tool: The tools used were (1) A self–administered questionnaire, (2) Champion’s Health Belief Model Constructs Scale and (3) An observation competency checklist for breast self examination.
Results: The results showed that, there is a highly significant improvement in knowledge, attitude that represented in all six dimensions of health belief model and practice regarding breast cancer screening and breast self examination after education with visual material compared to before education.
Conclusion: The educational intervention with visual material based on health belief model is effective in raising female teachers' awareness about breast cancer, and of regular screening procedures of breast self-examination. 
Recommendation: This result recommended that, the need for developing and establishing of breast cancer screening programs to improve female awareness.

Abstract:This study was a quasi-experimental study, This study aimed to evaluate the effect of psychosocial nursing intervention program on adjustment pattern of addict adolescent children through, assessing their knowledge about addiction, psychosocial problems, and their adjustment patterns, designing and implementing  psychosocial nursing intervention program for improving their adjustment patterns.
Research design; A quasi experimental design was used.
Setting: The study was conducted at Out-Patient Clinic of the institute for psychiatric mental health, affiliated to Ain Shams University.
Subject: A purposive sample involved 50 male and females adolescent children suffering from addiction.
Tools of the study: Involved Anxiety scale and introverted behavior scale to assess the psychosocial problems among addict adolescent and interview questionnaire to assess the adolescent's knowledge about addiction and their psychosocial adjustment patterns. These tools were used twice pre and post intervention program.
The main results showed that the psychosocial nursing intervention program was effective in improving adjustment patterns of addict adolescents.
Conclusion: Most of the studied addict adolescent were having psychosocial problems, negative adjustment patterns and unsatisfactory knowledge regarding to their addiction preprogram. while post intervention significant differences were observed reflecting that  intervention program empower their positive adjustment patterns with their community, home and families. Also, it was concluded that the study results support the study hypothesis. This study recommended that continuous educational health programs should be provided for prevention of addiction among adolescent. Further research on large number of substance abuser for teaching them how to cope with their problems effectively.

Abstract:Hepatitis C represents a challenge to the health and wellbeing of the adolescent patients and to health care system. In recent years remarkable progress has been made in hepatitis management in Egypt and Peginterferon/Ribavirin combination therapy has become the slandered of care.
Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the educational program on the children awareness for hepatitis C adherent to therapeutic regimen namely interferon and ribavirin therapy.
Methods: A quasi-experimental design was utilized to conduct this study, the study was carried out at outpatient of National Hepatology and Tropical Medicine Research Institute at Cairo.
Sample: A purposive sample included 30 pediatric adolescents from the previously mentioned settings. Tools:1) Patients’ interviewing sheet to assess their knowledge about therapeutic regimen (pre / post tests), 2) An observation checklist to evaluate patients’  reported practices regarding therapeutic regimen (pre / post tests & follow up) Patients condition assessment (pre / post tests & follow up) and 5) Self-report weekly diary.
Results: Showed that, there were statistically significant differences between knowledge of the studied teachers throughout the intervention (X2=27.4; p=0.0001) and there were statistically significant differences between practices of the studied teachers throughout the intervention (X2=26.3; p=0.0001). Moreover, there was a positive correlation between total knowledge of the studied adolescents and their total practices throughout the intervention with statistically significant difference at p< 0.05).
Conclusion: Educational program were helpful in creating and improving the awareness for hepatitis C pediatric patients adherent to therapeutic regimen namely interferon and ribavirin therapy and reduction of treatment side effects,
Recommendations: Further studies should be carried out on a large number of hepatitis C patients for evidence of the results and generalization.

Abstract:Open heart surgery can affect children in various ways, ranging from treatable disorder without long ¬term consequences to life-threatening condition. Aim: It was to evaluate the effect of relaxation technique on stress, anxiety and pain perception among post-operative heart surgery children.
Study design: Quasi experimental design. Settings: This study was carried out in intermediate cardiac intensive care unit, and cardiac surgery wards which affiliated to Ain Shams University Hospitals. Subject: purposive sample Composed of 42 children undergoing cardiac surgery in the previously mentioned settings. Tools: Tools of data collection were: I Children 's Characteristics Sheet: to assess the children's characteristics ,II Perceived Stress Scale (PSS):  to assess the level of stress in children pre/post relaxation technique , III Anxiety Scale: to assess the level of anxiety in children pre/post relaxation technique and IV Numeric Pain Rating Scale: to assess the level of pain perception in children pre/post relaxation technique.
Results: Statistical significant difference was observed post relaxation technique intervention regarding children's stress, anxiety and pain perception undergoing open heart surgery.
Conclusion: It can be concluded that, relaxation technique was effective on decrease stress, anxiety, and pain perception among postoperative heart surgery children.
Recommendations: Adequate time and specialized area should be offered to the child undergoing open heart surgery to learn and practice the relaxation technique. Further studies should be done to evaluate the effect of other relaxation techniques on the management of postoperative stress, anxiety and pain perception with open heart surgery children.

Abstract:This study aimed to evaluate the effect of instructional guidelines on nurses' performance regarding children suffering from burn. Research design: A quasi-experimental design pre and post test was used to conduct this study. Setting: The study was carried out at the burn center in El-Demerdash Hospital affiliated to Ain Shams University Hospitals. Subjects: A convenience sample of (40) nurses, worked in the previously mentioned setting.
Tools: 1- A predesigned questionnaire (pre/post): to assess the demographic characteristics of nurses and their knowledge related to burn. 2- An observational checklist: to evaluate the nurses’ performance regarding care of children suffering from burn. Results: The study revealed that only one quarter of the nurses had good total knowledge related to children burn pre instructional guidelines compared to three quarters of them post intervention. As well, nurses’ performance was improved post instructional guidelines intervention. There was a positive correlation between total knowledge of the studied nurses and their total performance post guidelines intervention. Conclusion: Based on the findings of the present study instructional guidelines had a positive effect on improving the nurses' knowledge and performance regarding children suffering from burn. In addition to this study concludes that the study results support the study hypothesis. Recommendation: Continuous application of instructional guidelines to enhance nurses' knowledge and performance regarding children suffering from burn.

Abstract:Iron deficiency anemia is a global public health problem; the pregnant women are the most vulnerable groups to iron deficiency anemia. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of health education program for pregnant women with iron deficiency anemia. Design: A quasi experimental design carried out at Nozha Family Medicine Center in Masr Al-Gadida District. A purposive sample composed of 48 pregnant women with iron deficiency anemia. Two tools were used: First tool: Structured interviewing questionnaire which included; demographic characteristics, past obstetric history, knowledge about iron deficiency anemia and reported practices related to eating habits. The second tool was the medical record. Results: This study proved that there are statistically significant differences between pre/post implementation of health education program regarding total satisfactory knowledge, and pregnant women’s reported practices towards level of dietary diversity, eating habits and cooking methods of meat and vegetables (foundry& grilled). However, There is statistically significant difference (p<0.05) between pre/post implementation of program regarding the first and second reading of hemoglobin levels, while there is no statistically significant difference (p>0.05) between pre/post implementation of program regarding the second and third reading of hemoglobin levels. Conclusion: It can be concluded that, the health education program for pregnant women with iron deficiency anemia led to significant improvements in their knowledge and practices that was proved by a slightly improvement among levels of hemoglobin in the three readings from start to the end of this study. Recommendations: A nutritional program on consumption of iron-rich foods and iron/foliate supplementation is recommended to prevent anemia in pregnant women.

Abstract:We aimed to evaluate the knowledge of osteoporosis in a sample of Greek women. A group of 646 women were enrolled in this cross-sectional study in the period from April 2018 to May 2018 using Google Form. The participants completed a questionnaire composed of 19 questions about osteoporosis which covering the main domains of knowledge on osteoporosis. Each correct answer carried 1 point whereas incorrect or “don’t know” carried 0 points. This gave a total score range of 0-19. A cut-off level of < 10 points was considered as poor knowledge while ≥ 10 was regarded as good knowledge. Out of 646 respondents, 570 (88.2%) had good knowledge and (11.8%) had poor knowledge. Our study revealed that Greek women have a good of knowledge about osteoporosis and no significant difference in osteoporosis knowledge between the age groups, education level, and location area.

Abstract:Servant leadership is a philosophical practice of leadership that promotes nursing service, encouragesloyalty, confidence, motivation, future oriented, and utilizes moral power to make powerful others for the moment leadership synchronization in organization which describes the culture within its association.
Aim: The aim of study was to assess the effect of servant leadership style on staff nurse’s loyalty.
Methods: The study was performed at Oncology Center, Mansoura University. The subjects of the present study was included all accessible staff nurses during data collection (n=93). Two tools were used in this study the first tool wasservant leadership style scale and the second tool was loyalty scale.
Results: There is statistically positively significant regarding director and head nurses servant leadership. As well as positive correlation between total score of servant leadership style subscaleitems and loyalty subscaleitems regarding head nurses.
Recommendations: Promote training in servant leadership principles. Improving nurse managers' servant leadership and empowering nurses to enhance their organizational loyalty, evaluateeach level of nurse management on leadership competencies based on specific servant leadership behaviors and further researches on nurse's loyalty.

Abstract:The birth of a child with mental retardation could lead to deep impact on families. Parents of those children are facing more stress and problems than parents of normal children. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of cognitive behavior therapy on problem solving and stress coping among parents of children with mental retardation. Study design: A quasi-experimental research design was utilized. Study setting: This study was conducted at Speech clinic (phonetics clinic), psychological and neurological clinic for children at Tanta University hospitals, Al-Gharbeia Governorate, Egypt. Study sample: A convenience sample of 31 parents of mental retarded child were included in the study. Study tools: three tools were administered to parents including Structure Interview Questionnaire, Problem Solving Inventory and Stress Coping scale. Results: The most common approach used by parents in solving problems was avoidance style and problem solving confidence.   There was significant improvement in positive coping strategies, and there was significant decrease in negative coping strategies after intervention. Also, there was a highly significant relationship between total stress coping score and some socio-demographic data education, marital status, family history and parent reaction. Additionally, after intervention of cognitive behavior therapy mean total score of stress coping was increased compared to pre intervention.
Conclusion: The results of this study support the idea that cognitive behavior therapy intervention is an effective intervention in improving abilities of problem solving and alleviate the stress among parents of children with mental retardation. Recommendations: Providing seminars and health education sessions regarding cognitive behavior therapy interventions in out-patient clinics to enhance parent's coping abilities and problem solving skills.

Abstract:Family Integrated Care, empowering mothers in direct care delivery and decisions, is becoming the standard in neonatal intensive care units in many countries and can improve quality-of-life and health outcomes of preterm infants. The study aimed to evaluate the impact of maternal involvement for caring of their premature infants on their stress level. A quasi-experimental design was used to conduct the study. The study was conducted at Neonatal Intensive Care Units, Ain Shams Maternity Hospital. A purposive sample included 100 premature infants and their mothers. Three tools was developed and filled by the researchers to collect data of the study involved structured interview questionnaire, Parental Stress- Scale & Parental involvement attitude scale (pre/post). Results, there was a highly statistical significant differences (P<0.001) among stress related to their premature infants, where most of the mothers had stress during the care of their premature infants which is decreased post involvement in caring for their premature infant also, there was a highly statistically significant relation between the mothers' attitude towards their involvement in caring of their premature infants and their stressors. Conclusion: The study assured that involvement of maternal for caring of their premature infants decrease the maternal stressor and the results support the research hypothesis. Recommendations: Create an integrated involvement for mothers having premature infants include basic information and skills in how to caring their infants without stress.

Abstract:Prosthesis is simply a tool which is an artificial replacement for a missing limb or part of a limb that can help person to be independent after missing body parts. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of a rehabilitation program on quality of life for individuals with prosthesis limbs. A research design was quasi-experimental study conducted at the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Rheumatology Center. A purposive sample consisting of 51 of individuals with prosthesis limbs. One tool was used for data collection; it was a structured interviewing questionnaire to assess: the socio-demographic characteristics of an individual with prosthesis limbs; medical history, knowledge about prosthesis, reported practices related to residual limb and prosthesis care and assess the quality of life for an individual with prosthesis limb. Results: This study proved that there is a statistically significant difference between pre/post implementation of the rehabilitation program regarding total satisfactory knowledge, total adequate reported practices, and also quality of life of studied sample between pre/post implementation of the rehabilitation program. Conclusion: The study concluded that, rehabilitation program has a positive effect on the individuals with prosthesis limbs knowledge, practices and their quality of life. Recommendations: The study recommended that, regular awareness program should be conducted regarding prosthesis limb.

Abstract:Nausea and vomiting during early pregnancy (NVEP) is common medical which affecting more than 80% of mothers during pregnancy. NVP can have negative which effects on the quality of life of the pregnant woman, social and her general well-being. Therefore, treatment it is very important in this condition. Aim of the study: assess the effect of nursing intervention using P6 and ginger on nausea and vomiting during  early pregnancy. Research Design: a quasi-experimental design was used (study and control group). Subjects: purposive sample of 180 women was recruited. Tools: Two tools were used for data collection. A structured interviewing questionnaire and index of nausea, vomiting and retching (INVR) according to the Rhodes index. Data were analyzed by t- test and Chi-square. Result: the result represents that there were statistically significant differences in mean difference to Rhodes index scores (vomiting, nausea, retching and total score) between the three groups (P < 0.00) Conclusion:  Ginger as well as p6 were effective in reducing nausea, vomiting and retching episodes during early pregnancy and using p6 as an alternative means that keeps the pregnant woman away from exposing her fetus to any pharmacological side effect. Recommendation: providing comprehensive training programs for nurses during routine antenatal care and follow up needed to relive nausea and vomiting using ginger and p6 acupressure technique.

Abstract:postoperative thirst affects the quality of sleep and causes great distress and, therefore, leads to negative feelings such as anxiety and irritability, which affect the quality of life and, therefore, increases the concern of medical personnel
Aim: Evaluate the effect of frozen saline on postoperative thirst among women undergoing gynecological surgery.
Method: Design: Quasi- experimental research design.
Setting: The study was accompanied at the inpatient obstetric and gynecological departments in Mansoura University Hospital.
Subjects: purposive sampling was used to select study subjects (n=66) women who undergone Gynecological surgery, subjects were divided randomly into two equal groups.
Tools: Three tools were used for data collection, structured interviewing schedule, thirst intensity scale and thirst discomfort scale.
Results: The study findings revealed that there was a statistically significant difference between control and intervention groups where as the mean level of thirst was statically significant reducing in favor of the intervention group than the control group (<0.001). Also there was statistically significant difference between the pretest and posttest levels of thirst at different time of measurements among the intervention group (9.2 ±0.7 & 7.2 ±0.8 & 6.7 ±1.1&5.9 ±1.4).
Conclusion: Postoperative woman who utilized frozen saline express less thirsty than those who don’t utilize it.
Recommendations: Utilization of frozen saline as routine care for all obstetrics and gynecological operation.

Abstract: Building sense of self of persons with mental illness is a significant part of recovery process as a patient identity can be detrimental to recovery.
The aim of the study is: To examine the relation between sense of self and recovery among persons with mental illness.
Subjects and Method: Study design: - Descriptive correlational study was used to conduct this study.
Study settings: The study was carried out at outpatient's clinic in Tanta Mental Health Hospital
Study subjects: The target population of this study was composed of 90 persons with mental  disorders who were chosen by convenience sample.
Tools of data collection: Data of the study as collected by using three tools:-. Too I:- Socio-demographic and clinical data interview questionnaire, Too II:- Recovery Assessment Scale –Domains and Stages (RAS-DS) and Tools III: Revised version Sense of self scale.
Results: The main findings of the study revealed that there was highly statistically positive significant correlation between patients' sense of self and recovery from mental illness.
Conclusion and recommendations: It can be concluded that patients who experience strong sense of self are more likely to experience more subjective feeling of recovery and study recommended that health care team especially nurses must be to “foster recovery and reconstruction of self for people with mental illnesses.

Abstract:Involvement of the employee is a strong approach to enhance performance of organization. It delegate decision making downward in the organization so nurses can take decisions rapidly, overcome problems and close contact to their source. High Involvement Work Process (HIWP) plays a key role in creating work environment that optimize organizational performance, effectiveness and nurses' well-being. The study aimed to explore the influence of High Involvement Work Process on Organizational Effectiveness and staff nurses wellbeing at Main Mansoura University Hospital and Health Insurance Hospital. A descriptive correlation design was used in carrying out this work. All nurses working in Main Mansoura University Hospital (n=124), and Health Insurance Hospital (n=137) who fulfills the criteria of having a minimum of one year experience were included in the study. The data collected by three tools; High Involvement Work Processes questionnaire (HIWP), Organizational Effectiveness Questionnaire (OEQ), and Psychological Well-being Questionnaire (PWQ). Major results were statistical significant positive correlation between (HIWP) and Organizational effectiveness in both hospitals. But no statistical significant correlation was found between (HIWP) and Nurses Well-being at both study hospitals. Also, Main Mansoura University Hospital have the highest mean score of total High Involvement Work Processes (HIWP), total Organizational effectiveness and total Nurses Well-being in comparison to Health Insurance Hospital.  It was concluded that attributes of high involvement work Processes are beneficial not only for the organizational effectiveness but also for nurses' wellbeing. It is recommended that creating a culture of high involvement work practices, sharing information, tied rewards with performance standards and gives power to do the jobs effectively.

Abstract:the incidence of IVF failure is estimated to be high and this can raise women’s negative emotions, which continued after many unsuccessful IVF procedures and can lead to a many problems. IVF failure results in not only distress but also a negative long-lasting effect on a woman's fertility-quality of life.
Purpose: this study was conducted with the purpose of identifying the effect of unsuccessful IVF on women's fertility quality of life.
Methods: Research Design: Exploratory descriptive design.  Tools: Two instruments were used throughout the course of this study: (I) interviewing questionnaire, (II) Fertility-quality of life questionnaire.
Main results: Repeated unsuccessful IVF procedure was negatively affecting women's fertility-quality of life.
Conclusion: The current study findings succeeded in answering both study questions.  
Recommendations: The current study showed that women had lower levels of fertility-quality of life. This underlines the importance of receiving psychosocial support in a holistic care approach. Assisted reproductive technology nurses should have knowledge to be able to support women during and after treatment cycles.

Abstract:Burn injury is a leading cause of disability and disfigurement which limits their functional ability, resulting in social stigma and restriction of participation in society. Viewed globally, it is one of the major causes of trauma, death and one of thirty principal causes worldwide of loss of life years due to premature mortality and years lived with disability. Children and adolescents affected by burns often live with life-long social, educational, physical and psychological consequences.  The children are vulnerable because of their physical, psychosocial development and maturity.
Aim of the study: The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of educational intervention on improving quality of life for children with burn scars.
Design: A quasi-experimental research design was used to conduct the study.
Setting: This study was conducted at the burn unit in Benha Teaching Hospital (Ministry of health).
Sample: A convenient sample consisted of (50) children who were admitted to the burn unit for grafting.
Tools of data collection:
Tool (I): An interviewing questionnaire sheet: It was designed by the researchers and it consists of three parts, the first part: Characteristics of the studied children and their mothers, the second part: Medical history of the children and the third part: Children knowledge sheet: to assess children knowledge.
Tool (II): Brisbane burn scar impact profile (BBSIP): This scale was adapted from Tyack, (2013), to assess children quality of life.
Tool (III): An observational checklist: To assess children practice about personal hygiene, wound care and physical exercise.
Results: The results showed that, most of the studied group was male and living in rural area. Meanwhile, there was a highly statistical significant difference between pre, post and after three months of educational intervention in relation to their total knowledge, quality of life and practice score in study group. Conclusion: the study was concluded that, the educational intervention had improved knowledge, quality of life and practice of children with burned scar. Recommendations: The study recommended that, post burn programs should be initiated by multidisciplinary team and continued after discharge to provide education and prevention of complications for pediatric burned children.

Abstract:Cervical cancer is a major cause of death in women around the world. Across the globe, over eighty percent of the deaths from cervical cancer occur in low-income countries and the developing world, where cervical cancer is the most common cancer in women. Human papillomavirus (HPV) are linked to the pathogenesis of cervical cancer and its precursors. Vaccines are now available to prevent the types of HPV that most commonly cause cervical cancer. Effective screening program include pap smear test will help in early detection of the disease and decreasing mortality rate.
Aim of: the current study is to provide nursing intervention toward dissemination of Pap smear practicing for prevention and early detection of cervical cancer.
Study design: A Quasi-experimental one group pre-test, post-test design was used.
Sampling: purposive sample including one hundred women admitted to family planning clinic in their reproductive age, married and accepted to participate in the study.
Data collection tools: includes three tools; first tool for studied women socio-demographic characteristics, second tool for assessing studied women’s knowledge regarding cervical cancer, Pap smear and HPV vaccine and third tool for assessing women’s satisfaction.
Results: this study showed that there is highly significant difference in women’s level of knowledge between pretest and posttest, regarding Pap smear test, eighty-six percent of study sample had negative Pap smear screening, while five percent of them had positive Pap smear screening result. The most of the studied women were satisfied with the study.
Conclusion: the present study concluded that the studied women had poor level of knowledge regarding cervical cancer, Pap smear and HPV vaccine in pretest, which is conversely changed in posttest, with highly significant statistically between pretest and posttest.
Recommendation: cervical cancer screening rate significantly could be improved by giving women better information and raising their awareness regarding cervical cancer screening, HPV vaccination.

Abstract:Healthcare workers (HCWs) especially sanitary workers are potentially exposed to ergonomic health hazards during their workday and are thus at greater risk of Musculoskeletal disorders. Applying the fundamental body mechanic principals related to ergonomic process, use proper equipments, training program among ergonomic hazards, proper and safe environment and safe tools and equipment, all that precautions can help in preventing  the ergonomic health hazards and controlling in risk factors.
Aim: To assess ergonomic health hazards among sanitary workers.
Design: Cross- sectional design was conducted among (168) sanitary workers within Health Insurance Organizations Hospitals in Kefir EL-Sheikh branch, Egypt , from Jan to March 2016.
Tools: five tools were used for assessment hospitals policy, non-structure environment of hospitals, demographic data, knowledge, and  practice of sanitary workers were obtained their exposure to ergonomic hazards.
Results: There's no policy specific for the ergonomic hazards, the non-structure of hospitals such as  supportive materials, equipments, transferring and lifting devices some were not available and  need maintenance and not suitable to use. The studied sanitary workers age up to 35 years with mean age of  36.8 ± 7.8 years ., the most qualification were educated and about their years of  experience it was 10 years at workplace. Concerning their knowledge were poor knowledge regarding ergonomic health hazards. However, unsatisfactory practice about ergonomic standard. Workload, inadequate equipment and supplies, resources, not continue training courses were identified as barriers or factors that lead to ergonomic health hazards.
Conclusion: The study concluded that sanitary workers showed poor level of knowledge, unsatisfactory level of practice regarding ergonomic health and safety. Workload, inadequate equipment and supplies, no training courses regarding ergonomic health hazards.
Recommendations: The study was recommended to continuous assessment of sanitary workers practice regarding ergonomic hazards.

Abstract:Teaching in clinical settings presents nurse educators with challenges that are different from those encountered in the classroom.
Aim: This study was aimed at developing and validating standards for clinical teaching skills.
Design: A methodological design was utilized.
Setting: It was conducted at the Faculty of Nursing, Ain-Shams University on a group of 72 faculty assistants who participating in clinical teaching, and jury group consisted of 30 nursing faculty members.
Tools of Data collection: Data collection tools included an opinionnaire for jury group, an questionnaire sheet for faculty assistants group, and an observation checklist.
Results: There were high agreement of faculty assistant upon all proposed standards. 87.5% of them agreed upon the total standards. 80.6% of assistants faculty, had adequate performance of the proposed standards. There was a high agreement upon almost all items of the proposed standards by jury group. The total agreement ranged between 85.7% to 100.0%.
Conclusion: applicability as shown by the high performance of the faculty assistants using proposed standard.
Recommendations: Apply The proposed standards at the Faculty of Nursing, Ain-shams University and in similar settings . Offer the necessary equipment and resources to apply the suggested standards.

Abstract:Drug addiction is a chronic disease that's often associated with other psychiatric disorders. Anxiety, depression and stress are the most common psychiatric problems in substance abuse which affect spiritual well-being. Aim of this study was to assess psychological problems and its effect on spiritual well-being among substance abuse patients. Research design: A descriptive correlational design was utilized to achieve the aim of the study. Setting: This study was conducted at outpatient clinic of Psychiatric & Mental Health Hospital in Benha City. Sample: A convenient sample of 40 Substance abuse patients who were enrolled in outpatient clinic. Tools: Three tools were utilized in this study. First tool divided into two parts. Part (1): Socio-demographic of substance abuse patients. Part (2): Previous clinical history of substance abuse.  Second tool: Depression, anxiety and stress (DASS) scale to assess psychological problems of depression, anxiety and stress. Third tool: Spiritual well-being scale to measure levels of spiritual well-being for substance abuse patients. Results: More than half of the studied substance abuse patients had severe psychiatric problems (depression, anxiety & stress). Nearly three quarters of the studied substance abuse patients had low level of spiritual wellbeing. Conclusion: There was a highly statistical significant inverse correlation between spiritual well-being and psychological problems. Recommendation: Manipulate a program which enhances substance abuse patients to improve spiritual well-being with different life events.

Abstract:Thalassemia is the most common genetic disorder in Egypt, with an estimated carrier rate of 9-10%. Pain is a subjective symptom whose prevalence can be grossly underestimated. Chronic pain often necessitates new coping skills. Children coping with their pain will help their body and mind. Aim: assess the knowledge of Thalassemic Children about Their Pain and The used Coping strategies Design: A descriptive cross- sectional design was utilize. Setting: the study was carried out at the heamatology outpatient clinics affiliated to Mansoura University Children Hospital(MUCH) and heamatology department of elabour hospital affiliated to Health Insurance Organization at kafer el-sheikh city, Egypt. Subjects: A purposive sample of Pediatric patient 132 (66 of them from hematology outpatient clinic at Mansoura university children hospital MUCH and 66 from hematological department at elabour hospital at kafr elsheikh city) their age from 8-18 years, free from other complain, and Accept to participate in the study. Tools: Data collection lasted 3 months by using structured questionnaire sheet, Brief pain inventory and Children Coping strategies checklist. The study Results revealed average children' knowledge regarding thalassemia and associated pain, children had mild pain and no children had higher level of coping. Recommendations:  Health educational program for children about thalassemia and pain associated with the disease at outpatient clinics to improve their knowledge toward thalassemia and pain.

Abstract:Drug addiction or substances abuse is a worldwide public health crisis. It is one of the important problem of the human society which increasing day by day. This increase becomes dominant in adolescents and young age students. Prevention of addiction could be applied through providing health educational programs to adolescents and young age students. Aim of the study: Determine the effect of educational program on the knowledge, attitudes and practices of students of preparatory schools about prevention of drug addiction. Subjects and Method: Study design:-a quasi-experimental research design was used. Study setting: The study was conducted at two governmental preparatory male schools which were selected randomly as one from the east educational Tanta zone and the other from the west educational Tanta zone. Subjects: The total number of the study subjects was 300 male students chosen by allocation method from the previous settings. Tools: Two tools were used by the researcher to obtain the necessary data. Tool I: Socio-demographic interview questionnaire of students and their family history about drug abuse. Tool II:  knowledge, attitude and practices assessment questionnaire: it composed of three parts. Part (1): students’ knowledge about drug addiction. Part (2): student’s attitude toward drug addiction. Part (3): students’ practices regarding drug addiction. Results: The result of this study showed that the majority (98.7 %) of the studied students had good knowledge level immediately after program implementation while they represent 86.7% after 2 months of the program. All the studied students had positive attitudes regarding drug addiction after program implementation. As well, the majority (90.5 %) of the studied students had satisfied practices immediately after program implementation toward drug addiction. There was highly positive significant correlation between the total knowledge score and the total practice score of the studied students. Conclusion: It can be concluded that the educational program was effective in improving the studied students’ knowledge, attitudes and practices regarding drug addiction. Recommendations: Health educational programs should be directed to adolescents and young age students to increase their awareness regarding drug addiction. School health programs should integrate specific life skill training program in their curriculums to help students to combat the problem of drug addiction through all different educational stages. Mass media, friends, schools and families should assume their roles in protecting students and young adolescents from addiction. Health educational campaigns concerning drug addiction should be directed to vulnerable groups through collaboration between different sectors. Laws against drug abuse and drug trafficking should be strictly applied and announced to all populations.

Abstract:The adjuvant chemotherapy in breast cancer has an established role in the management, it is administered a few weeks after breast surgery. However, there is no evidence about the optimum time of initiation of treatment.
Aim: To evaluate the influence of timing of initiation of the adjuvant chemotherapy over survival in non-metastatic breast cancer.
Materials and Methods: This retrospective study was conducted at Oncology Department, Tishreen university Hospital in Lattakia, Syria. The study enrolled breast cancer patients (from 2010 to 2013) with stages I–III, treated with surgery and adjuvant chemotherapy. Data were gathered about prognostic factors such as age, tumor size, histological grade, lymph nodes involvement, hormonal receptor status and human epidermal growth factor 2 . The time interval between surgery and initiation of chemotherapy, and dates of relapse and death were recorded. Patients were assigned in three groups according to the surgery-chemotherapy interval: < 4 weeks, 4-8 weeks, >8 weeks.
Results: The study enrolled 299 patients, with a mean age of 53.6 years (age range: 32 – 82 years ) . IDC was the most common breast cancer type (90%), the rest of cases were ILC (10%). 93.6% of study patients had mastectomy, 6.4% had partial breast surgery. Positive estrogen receptor breast cancer represented the most cases (75.5%) . 32.3% of cases were Her2 positive. There were no differences in 5-year overall survival (OS), according to the timing of initiation of adjuvant chemotherapy. Longer delay of initiation of adjuvant chemotherapy (<4 weeks versus >8 weeks) and moderate delay (<4 weeks versus 4-8 weeks) significantly decreased the DFS (HR of 2.7; 95% CI, 1.7 – 4.2) and (HR of 1.61 ; 95% CI, 1.18 – 2.2) respectively .
We further investigated the effect of time to adjuvant chemotherapy on disease free survival according to subtypes. Earlier initiation of adjuvant chemotherapy was associated with better5 – year DFS in patients with ER+/Her2- and ER-/Her2+ tumors.
Conclusion: Longer delay of adjuvant chemotherapy was associated with worse Disease free survival and early initiation of adjuvant chemotherapy should be performed for patients with some aggressive tumor subtypes.

Abstract:Smart mobile usage has seeped into each element ofcollege students, live. On the other hand, its extreme use and its health impacts are somewhat novel subjects, we must shed the light to this subject which are prevailing hallucinations in the general population .The current study.
aimed to determine the relation between Phantom Vibration Syndrome (PVS), Phantom Ringing Syndrome (PRS) and level of anxiety among nursing students.
Design: Cross-sectional study was used.
Subjects: 300 nursing students were selected by proportional stratified random sampling method in each stratum.
Tools: Data were collected by a self-administered questionnaire and a Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale.
Results: The frequency of PVS/PRS due to mobile phones in students of nursing sciences was estimated to be 77.0 /77.3% respectively & there was a significant association between PVS and using social webs such as Face book, &GPS. Concerning  the relation  between PVS and level of anxiety  there is highly significant  relation at ( p-value <0.001**), regarding frequency of time feeling by PVS there is a significant relation ( p-value 0.028) where  students who felt vibration weekly have sever anxiety 97.4%,while there is no association between PRS  and anxiety.
Conclusion & Recommendations: It was concluded that there was a relation between phantom vibration syndromes and level of anxiety but no relation with VRS among nursing students so the researchers  recommended that  researches  must  be done to evaluate the long-term impairment of misusing  smart phones and methods to alleviate anxiety.

Abstract:Perceived organizational support has a positive reflection on employees and the institution. Egyptian organizations may be confronting significant challenges as they make efforts to improve levels of employee work engagement.
Aims: The present study aimed to assess the level of perceived organizational support, work engagement among head nurses. And examine relationship between organizational support and work engagement as perceived by head nurses.  Setting: This study was conducted at Mansoura University Hospital.
Research Design: A descriptive design was utilized.
Sample: All head nurses (n=90) who agreed to participate in the study at time of data collection.
Tools: Two tools were usedPerceived Organizational Support Scale and Utrecht Work Engagement Scale .Results: Head nurses majority involved in the study were have moderate perceived organizational support level  and high level of work engagement. There was a highly significant correlation between head nurses' perception of organizational support and work engagement (r=0.240 and p-value= < 0.023) which means (p-value < 0.05 and r more than 0.174).
Conclusion:-Majority of the head nurses who work at Main Mansoura University Hospital had moderate level of perceived organizational support and high level of work engagement. There was a statistically significant relation between head nurses’ perceived organizational support and their work engagement.
Recommendations: It’s recommended that Mansoura University Hospital should develop strategies to create an atmosphere that is under which head nurses fell more supported (e.g. headnurse’s participation in hospital affairs, include a representative member in different hospital committee, and providing chances for continuing education and promotion).

Abstract:Mindfulness meditation is a practice that allows one to purposefully pay attention to the present moment without judgment. It helps us to look at things with a new lens and typically change the way to see things. Aim of the study:  the aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of the meditation Technique on the psychological and physical body change in children with chronic kidney disease on hemodialysis. Design: A quasi-experimental research design was used to conduct the study. Settings: This study was carried out in pediatric dialysis unit, Benha university Hospital. Sample: A purposive sample of children (47) undergoing hemodialysis therapy through 4 months period in the previously mentioned setting. Tools of data collection: Three tools were used; Tool I:-A structured interviewing questionnaire: Tool II: Pain measurement scale. Tool III: Child and adolescent mindfulness measure. Results of this study revealed that, a highly statistically significant difference of the studied children physiological and psychological change in post application meditation technique. This study concluded that: All children who practice meditation technique experienced significantly less anxiety, depression and experienced decrease in total pain level scores.  The study recommended that: Although the effects in this study were not as robust as we had hoped, we still believe mindful meditation to be a promising intervention for children with chronic kidney disease on hemodialysis at different settings.
