Abstract:The last two decades have seen religion taking the centre stage in most violent conflicts globally, thus notoriously constituting major security threats confronting the world in the aftermath of the Cold War. In the context of Nigeria, conflicts based on religion were either inter or intra, that is, between two religions or within one religion, either way, their effects on internal security have been far-reaching. The objective of the paper was to examine how religious conflicts posed a threat to Nigeria’s internal security. The paper employed secondary materials sourced from On-Line Journal Articles, Government and Agency Reports, Books, Theses and Dissertations, to achieve its objective. The paper defined the concepts of religion, conflict, religious conflict, security and internal security. Then it examined the dynamics of religious conflicts in Nigeria. It went on to discuss the threats religious conflict posed to the internal security of Nigeria. The analysis revealed that the trend of religious-based conflicts within the country have increased and at the same time caused serious threats to the corporate existence of Nigeria in terms of national unity, undermining the stability of the Nigerian State, undermining the security forces, mass killings and destruction of economic activities, and displacement of populations and creation of refugee problems.

Abstract:This research empirically examined the role of Polytechnic Education (PE) and employability skills in Ghana. The originality of this polytechnic system’s assessment lies in its re-examination of the higher educational pathways in Ghana in the light of individual trajectories onto the labour market, and the perspectives that emerge. Not only courses offered, curriculum, coordination, or self reliance skills but also successfully completed studies in a generalistic skills were viewed here as elements in the increasing complexity of polytechnic training pathway, based on polytechnic education upstream and its effect on the transition options from education to employment and employers’ views downstream were examined. The examination of the polytechnic education revolves around the hypothesis that: Polytechnic education does have a significant impact on graduates’ employability skills in Ghana. The findings to this hypothesis were informed by a survey entitled ‘Kwegyiriba Polytechnic 2016’.  The survey interviewed a sample population size of 725 as a representation of the six out of the ten polytechnics, employers and the general public understudied.  It drew on the human capital theory (HCT) and found out that polytechnic education has a positive impact in terms of employability skills from the student consumers, employers and the general public perspectives.The Polytechnic education model clearly indicated from the result as performing well in providing employability skills to its consumers.

Abstract:This research discusses the history of Islām in Yoruba land which started in the early 18th century. However, the impact of religious heterogeneity has not been systematically studied. Therefore, this thesis examines the extent of the involvement of Yoruba Muslims in heterogeneous beliefs and practices in Nigeria using the Kwara State as a case study, with a view to bringing out the impact of Tawḥīd on them. This study notes that there is a prevalence of religious heterogeneity among many Yoruba Muslims, but it principally argues that its impact affects many of them negatively. If continuous awareness campaign could be carried out, the phenomenon of incompatible foreign elements on Muslims in Yoruba can be reduced. A triangulated method was used to carry out this study. The findings of this thesis indicated reappraisal of the problem associated with many Yoruba Muslims’ persistence in heterogeneity and its implications on their faith (īman). While this study appreciates the attempts of some scholars to address the problem of spiritual corruption, it reveals that is not yet inculcated into many Yoruba Muslims within the Yoruba religio-cultural context. Therefore, a concerted effort is necessary in ensuring the Tawḥidic integrity remains intact.

Abstract:The purpose of the study was to establish the effect of Audit Committee (AC) technical competence on the financial performance of sugar milling companies in Western Kenya. The legislative provision on the Public Finance Management Act 2012 and its regulations 2015 laws of Kenya has given force on full implementation of Audit Committee. The study adopted Ex-post Facto and descriptive as the research design. The target population was 37 members of Audit Committee in all the eleven sugar milling companies in Western Kenya. The study used questionnaire and document analysis guide to collect primary and secondary data respectively. The secondary data were derived from audited and published accounts of the sugar milling companies for the period 2014-2016 financial years. Data analysis was done inferentially and descriptively. The finding was that Audit Committee technical competence had an effect on the financial performance of the sugar milling companies as was explained with a variation of up to 67.8%. The study recommended that, Audit Committee members to continue undergoing induction on new financial developments in order to be more technically competent.

Abstract:The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of monitoring and evaluation on completion of community based health projects. The study adopted descriptive survey research design, targeting all the 57 health- related Community Based Projects in the county. The target population of this study was 171, with a sample size of 120 and achieved a response rate of 100%. The study adopted both stratified sampling and simple random sampling method to pick the respondents from each Community Based Organization. Both questionnaires and interviews were used to collect primary data while document analysis was used for secondary data. The study found that there is a strong positive correlation M&E practices and project implementation which is statistically significant.

Abstract:Monitoring and evaluation of projects is fundamental if the project objectives and success is to be achieved since it improves overall efficiency of project planning, management and implementation. This study sought to establish the influence of log frame on completion of CDF health construction projects in Busia County, Kenya. This study employed a descriptive survey research design. The total target population for the study comprised of 166 and therefore sample size for this study was 52 respondents. The main tools of data collection for this study were questionnaires and interview schedules for the key informants. The researcher administered questionnaires directly to the target respondents. Frequency tables with varying percentages were used to present the findings. The data was analyzed using both descriptive (arithmetic means, standard deviations), and inferential (Simple, multiple linear regression and Pearson’s correlation coefficient) statistical methods with the aid of SPSS- version 21 computer software. Tests of statistical assumptions were carried out before data analysis to avoid invalidation of statistical analysis. The hypotheses was tested at α=.05 level of significance. H01: There is a significant relationship between log frame and completion of CDF health construction projects in Busia County, Kenya, was rejected since  P=0.000<0.05; The researcher  recommends that government policies should be integrated to monitoring and evaluation tools in order to fast struck completion of CDF health construction.

Abstract:Community development plays an important factor in the realization of poverty eradication at the grass root level. The inability of the government and non-state actors to fully immerse themselves in improving the living standards of the bottom of the pyramid citizens has prompted a new way of tackling underdevelopment through social entrepreneurship. Social entrepreneurship has the ability of attracting various stakeholders to venture into projects implementation in the community, leading to community development and the whole country at large. The necessitation of the social entrepreneurs for economic development informed such studies. Therefore the study was carried out with the aim of examining the influence of social entrepreneurship strategies on sustainable community development projects implementation in Kenya; a case of Kilifi County. The study was guided by four objectives on the basis of which four hypotheses were formulated and tested at the 95% level of significance. The hypothesis were that continuous innovation, continuous training, community involvement, and financial management influence sustainable community development projects implementation in Kenya; a case of Kilifi County. The results indicated that: majority of the respondents (93%) supported the view continuous innovation strategic practice of social entrepreneurship influences the implementation of community development projects; majority of the respondents (86%) supported the idea that employee training strategic practice of social enterprise has a significant influence on the performance of community development projects; majority of the respondents (95%) had a strong opinion that community involvement determines the extent to which community development projects are implemented; and majority of the respondents supported the idea that  financial management influences the performance of community development projects implementation. The adjusted R2 (also called the coefficient of multiple determinations) calculated generally communicates that 59.87% change in the implementation of community development projects could be attributed to the combined effect of the predictor variables. Also, probability value of 0.015 indicated that the regression relationship was highly significant in predicting how continuous innovation, employee training, community involvement, and financial management influenced the implementation of community development projects in the county. The researcher suggested that, a research should be carried out to examine the influence of social entrepreneurship projects implementation on economic development in marginalized Kenya.

Abstract:The easiest way to provide health services to the young population in any country is ensuring that health programs are integrated into the education systems since majority of the young population in both developing and developed countries spend their lives and time in schools. Therefore, there was a need to establish the link between education systems in a country and the implementation of the CSHP. In this realization, the study was carried out. Therefore through the study it was the easiest way to provide health services to the young population in any country is ensuring that health programs are integrated into the education systems since majority of the young population in both developing and developed countries spend their lives and time in schools. Therefore, there was a need to establish the link between education systems in a country and the implementation of the CSHP. Out of the 218 questionnaires distributed, 150 were very useful for the study. The results indicated that there was a significant relationship between the various independent variables and the dependent variable as indicated by the Chi-Square test values. Therefore in the study, all the alternative hypotheses were adopted i.e:  Capacity building has a significant influence on sustainable comprehensive school health program implementation in marginalized regions of Kenya (calculated p value of 0.124 was less that 0.5 (p < 0.5), at 95% significance level); support provision has a significant influence on sustainable comprehensive school health program implementation in marginalized regions of Kenya (calculated p value of 0.221 was less than 0.5 (p < 0.5), at 95% significance level); School infrastructure influences sustainable comprehensive school health program implementation in marginalized regions of Kenya significantly (calculated p value of 0.003 was less than 0.5 (p < 0.5), at 95% significance level0: and government policies have a significant influence on sustainable comprehensive school health program implementation in marginalized regions of Kenya (calculated p value of 0.045 is less than 0.5 (p < 0.5), at 95% significance level). The researcher suggested that a similar study should be carried out in the other remaining counties in the coast region or by extension in the whole of Kenya and beyond. Another study should be carried out to examine the influence of the CSHP on education performance in any given county in Kenya.

Abstract:The purpose of this research was to examine the determinants of sustainable implementation of early childhood development (ECD) projects in marginalized counties in Kenya; a case of ECD projects in Lamu County. The study was proposed due to a number of reasons that range from the role of ECD (foundation education) on the welfare of the children in the society and its general effect on the education of country, plus the state of poor ECD projects in marginalized counties in Kenya. The study was guided by four objectives namely: to determine the extent to which stakeholders; to establish the extent to which funds allocation; to determine how feasibility study; and to establish the extent to which monitoring and evaluation influences sustainable County Government ECD centers’ project in Lamu County. The population of the study was 246 respondents who were Head teachers, County employees and PTA chairpersons. The study used a sample size of 149 respondents. The researcher collected data using a well-structured questionnaire. The questionnaire was then coded to facilitate entry to SPSS software for analysis by the help of statistics expert. Data was analyzed and presented by use frequency tables, means, standard deviation etc. The chi-square was used to test the research hypothesis. Findings indicated that: majority of the respondents supported the idea that ECD projects in the county have been engaging the various stakeholders effectively and these stakeholders influence the implementation of ECD projects. The significance of the influence was confirmed by the chi-square test whereby the alternative hypothesis was adopted after achieving a calculated chi-square value of 14.3 that was greater than the critical chi-square value of 9.488 at 0.05 level of confidence. Also, funds allocation for ECD projects influences their performance in the county; feasibility study influences ECD projects implementation in the county. The significance of the influence was confirmed by the chi-square test whereby the alternative hypothesis was adopted after achieving a calculated chi-square value of 38.7 that was greater than the critical chi-square value of 9.488 at 0.05 level of confidence. Equally, feasibility studies were found to be significant in the implementation of ECD projects. The significance of the influence was confirmed by the chi-square test whereby the alternative hypothesis was adopted after achieving a calculated chi-square value of 46.4 that was greater than the critical chi-square value of 9.488 at 0.05 level of confidence. Also, the study indicated that ECD projects implementation is influenced by monitoring and evaluation significantly. The significance of the influence was confirmed by the chi-square test whereby the alternative hypothesis was adopted after achieving a calculated chi-square value of 35.1 that was greater than the critical chi-square value of 9.488 at 0.05 level of confidence. Finally, it was suggested that a similar study can be carried out in Lamu county or other counties in the country to focus on other issues like influence of political in or government policies on ECD project.

Abstract:The purpose of this study is to determine, through a model that integrates the different study approaches observed in the literature, how technology adoption – via level of trialability, level of observability, degree of compatibility and degree of complexity improve organizational performance in Sony Sugar Company, Awendo, Kenya. The study objective was to establish the effect of technology adoption on organizational performance in Sony Sugar Company, Awendo, Kenya. The study used correlation research design. Questionnaires use correlation research design. Questionnaires and interview schedules were used as tools for data collection. Previous research has already tested how each indicator, considered individually, positively influences lean manufacturing. An integrated model that includes all the indicators would reveal whether they have a direct effect on organizational performance or not. Structural equation modeling is used to analyze how the indicators of the model interact among them and the testing of hypotheses, with a sample of 79 financial advisors. Results show observability as the indicator directly connected to organizational performance with a mean of 3.35 and Std.Dev of 1.328, while complexity with a mean of 3.3.34 and Std.Dev of 1.417, compatibility had a mean of 3.29 and Std.Dev of 1.411and triability  only affect performance indirectly through their interaction with observability with a mean of 3.26 and Std.Dev of 1.439. The results of this study also offer information on the relationship between technology adoption and lean manufacturing to improve organizational performance. This article offers the base to identify measures that can lead to an improvement in organizational performance through technology adoption and lean manufacturing.

Abstract:The purpose of the study was to assess the role of human resource managers in administration and its effect on employees’ satisfaction in selected hotels in Takoradi. Simple random technique and purposive samplings were the sampling techniques for the study. A well-structured questionnaire was used to collect data with a sample size of 80 respondents. Microsoft excel was the main statistical tool used for the analysis. The study made it emphatic that, the roles of human resource managers are very useful since 87.5% of the managers alluded to that fact. ‘Staffing’ and ‘Compensation and Benefits Administration’, dominated the major roles of human resource managers. And to agree to these findings, there was a 100% appreciation of the roles of the human resource managers by the administrations. ‘Training and Development’ was found to be the major challenge that the human resource managers encounter which represented 50%. However, the study found that these challenges are very much avoidable because 87.5% of the respondents attested to that. The study concludes that, the role of human resource managers is irreplaceable therefore; they are emphatically appreciated by the administration.

Abstract:The focus of this study was to investigate the effects of emotional stability and family quality of life on well-being of college students. Data was collected in a campus classroom setting among N=202 adult undergraduate students with an age range of 18-54 years; 69 (34%) male and 133 (66%) female participants.  The participants completed three instruments: Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-14) with 14 items, the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ Scale) with 10 items, and the Family Quality of Life Scale (FQOL Scale) with 16 items.  A One-Way ANOVA was used for data analysis that indicated participants with low social support, dissatisfied with life, and concerned financially scored lower in family interaction, parenting and emotional well-being.  Participants who were concerned financially scored lower on reappraisal and higher on suppression.
